WHAT A DAY! 🤩💙 WORK READINESS 2026 WAS A SUCCESS!

On 13 October 2026, we hosted our fellow TUT Engineering Student Chapters at Building 21 Auditorium for an inspiring day of learning, growth and collaboration!

A huge thank you to our speakers from CIDB, PPS, Eskom and SAPS for sharing valuable insights on professionalism, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, purpose, crime prevention and GBV awareness. 🙏

Special appreciation to our sponsors, collaborators, TUT Alumni, and everyone who contributed to making this programme a success. A big thank you to our Chairperson, Bongani Innocent Maluleka, and Secretary, Mthandeni Khwela, for their leadership and dedication. 💙

Work readiness goes beyond qualifications, it’s about being professional, financially responsible, purpose-driven and safety-conscious. We are grateful for this experience and ready to take on the workplace! 🚀

Hey TUTzens

Dr Lincoln Cave, the Executive Organisational Ethics Adviser at the Ethics Institute delivered the keynote address at the launch of the codes of ethics, titled “Two Codes, One Ethical Culture: Shared Ethical Stewardship Through Leadership and Accountable Everyday Conduct”.

Dr Cave emphasised that building an ethical university goes beyond having policies and following rules. He said it requires university leadership, employees, students and external stakeholders to consistently uphold the institution’s values through their everyday actions and decisions, even when no one is watching. He highlighted the importance of balancing institutional responsibilities with the needs of stakeholders using student accommodation funding as an example of how ethical decision making requires fairness, accountability, consultation and consideration of alternative solutions. He noted that the codes of ethics serve as practical guides for responsible conduct, helping to strengthen ethical leadership and embed a culture of integrity across the university.

Hey TUTzens

We are attending the launch of TUT’s Code of Ethics with a central theme “Living Our Values - Building an Ethical TUT Together”. The launch highlights the importance of upholding the university’s values and building a culture of ethical conduct among staff and students.

Delivering the opening and welcome address, Vice-Chancellor and Principal Prof Tinyiko Maluleke spoke about the resilience of TUT students and the contribution of the university’s staff and academics to South African higher education. He emphasised that while TUT continues to produce graduates who are equipped for a changing world, academic excellence and innovation must be matched by ethical conduct starting in the classroom and extending across the university.
