In case you were getting jealous of my shoots, it’s not always rainbows and sunshine. I have some tough days filming in hurricanes and treacherous weather. But having a great reporter like @tvmarci made battling Hurricane Florence in Wilmington, North Carolina that much easier.

A very Merry Christmas from the Rands!

We have a 7-person household this holiday after 2 sweet little sisters recently came to stay with us. They’ve been in the foster system and we couldn’t bear the thought of them spending Christmas separated or in some terrible setting so the decision to welcome them in was an easy one.

And we post this to remind everyone that there are thousands of children in the foster system right now and you (YES YOU)! can help them. It seemed like an impossibility to us not too long ago, but really anyone can foster a child. All you need to do is take a few classes, have the space and have love to give.

And @tvmarci and I are always happy to answer any questions or help guide you through the process and the problems, because of course, just like parenting, fostering isn’t easy (especially with 5 kids under 6!)

Sending love this Christmas, from our family to yours.

Welcome to our new IG page! At Aldama Elementary — the oldest school in Northeast LA — creativity runs deep.

We’re proud to be one of LAUSD’s longest-running Dual Language Immersion programs and a Title I school filled with incredible students, families, and teachers.

Title I schools like ours need extra funding to keep the arts alive. That’s why Artes at Aldama was born — a community-led PTA nonprofit ensuring every child has access to art, music, and creative expression.

Through fundraising, grants, and partnerships, we’re building programs that make creativity part of everyday learning — from art and music instruction to school-wide projects and student showcases.

Our biggest event of the year, Artes Para Aldama, brings our whole community together to celebrate creativity and raise funds that directly support arts programming.
