Designing for tranquility at Hyatt Regency O’Hare Chicago.

For this iconic John Portman-designed hotel, TVS Architecture & Interior Design turned to Couristan’s custom woven Axminster program to create corridor carpeting that balances durability, performance, and sophisticated design.

The 80% wool/20% nylon carpet features deep blues, grays, and soft earth tones with flowing, abstract patterns inspired by aerial geography and flight paths—bringing a sense of visual calm to this high-traffic hospitality environment.

A nod to the rail lines that shaped Atlanta, woven into the art and design throughout Hotel Phoenix.

Sculpted pendants that bend like track overhead, channel-tufted headboards finished with a cognac leather strap, and screen-printed tracks framed in walnut.

URBAN INTELLIGENCE // THE KING & QUEEN

Rising above the I-285 and Georgia 400 interchange, the King and Queen are two of Metro Atlanta’s most recognizable suburban skyscrapers. Officially known as Concourse Corporate Center VI and V, the towers became landmarks of the Perimeter skyline thanks to their reflective glass façades and distinctive white crowns inspired by chess pieces.

Completed three years apart, the towers anchor the larger Concourse Corporate Center campus in Sandy Springs. Together, they contain more than 1.4 million square feet of office space and remain major corporate addresses within Atlanta’s Central Perimeter business district.

THE NUMBERS
THE KING — CONCOURSE VI
Height: 553 FT
Completed: 1991
Use: Office
Address: 6 Concourse Parkway
Official Name: Concourse Corporate Center VI
Architect: Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates
Notable Tenants: Asset Living, Atlanticus + WTW

THE QUEEN — CONCOURSE V
Height: 570 FT
Completed: 1988
Use: Office
Address: 5 Concourse Parkway
Official Name: Concourse Corporate Center V
Architect: Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback + Associates
Notable Tenants: Newell Brands, Aprio + BCD Travel

The Queen is the taller of the pair, while the King is identified by its more squared crown. Together, they helped give the Perimeter Center area a skyline identity of its own and remain the two tallest buildings in Sandy Springs.

Urban Intelligence is brought to you by XEffectVisuals LLC. We’re documenting the history, numbers and stories behind the buildings that shape Metro Atlanta, one property at a time.

Chef and digital designer, @gee.analog is the culinary voice of A House of Memory, where family recipes and culinary tradition are treated as what they have always been: living forms of design. Every ingredient carries a story, and he plans to let you taste a few of them.

He arrives here fresh from the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, and his next move is a capsule supper club. Keep an eye on his page for updates as it takes shape. And if you are in Atlanta, come find him and sit at his table before the year is out

Come support. Come commune. Come as you’ve known yourself.

Parking instructions will be sent via ticket holder emails, September 29, 5PM to 8PM, at TVS Design, 11200 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta.

We can’t wait to see you all!

A wonderful day visiting TVSdesign Atlanta and getting an inside look at this inspiring architecture and design practice, hosted by our outstanding alumnus Paul McKeever, Principal at TVS.

Paul generously shared his time and insights with our students, giving us a closer look at the firm’s creative work environment, collaborative studio culture, and the exciting projects happening at TVS. It was inspiring to see how design, innovation, and teamwork come together in a professional practice.

Most importantly, it was wonderful to reconnect with one of our SCAD Architecture alumni and see how far our Bees have taken their education and creativity into the profession. Paul’s journey from SCAD to leadership at TVS is a great example of the impact our alumni can make in the architecture community.

Thank you, Paul, and the entire TVS team, for welcoming us and sharing your expertise with the next generation of designers! 🐝🏛️

Once a Bee, always a Bee! 💛

What makes a space feel like home, and what makes us remember it?

Meet @hailey_wilk , an Associate and architectural designer at TVS Design. Her work spans interiors, architecture, and planning, with a particular interest in how spaces affect us psychologically as well as visually, a perspective shaped by photography, art, fashion, and community engagement.

For A House of Memory, Hailey is working with the TVS Design team on an architectural exhibition that brings the built environment into conversation with food, ritual, and the memories we carry.

As guests move through the evening, the exhibition asks a simple question: how do the spaces we design become part of the stories we keep?

Join us September 29, 5PM to 8PM, at TVS Design for A House of Memory: Food, Ritual + the Spaces That Hold Us.
