@shivandthecarvers play queer roller skate punk out of Toronto and have been releasing music through Twin Fang Records since summer 2024. Their EP Tell Me You Love Me Again arrived in March 2025, followed by a spring and summer run through Southern Ontario and Quebec. This September, they travelled to the UK for a nine-date run that opened at Loud Women Fest in London on the 5th, and then on to Hamburg, where they played the Canada House bill at Reeperbahn on the 17th. Recent singles, “Executionary” (July) and “Screens” (September), announced their debut full album, Always Watching, coming soon on October 29th via @twinfangrecords .

Last Waltzon, an Art-Rock band born from Montreal’s DIY circuit, play live shows where the entire band feels like the front line. Echoing the urgency of both 80’s post-punk/new wave and neo-art rock, the band tosses between two distinct vocal styles. The music is sharp-edged, balancing chaos and clarity with fast-moving guitars and a propulsive rhythm section. Their first record ‘Wethouse’ came out in March 2025. The recordings channel the inner energy of ‘The Fall’ and ‘Gun Club’ and gained attention from SXSW, Iggy Pop, BBC Radio, and WNYU while charting on college radio stations across the country. Catch @lastwaltzon on the Friday night of SSF at @bovinesexclub *and* @collectivebrew. Tickets & passes on sale now (student discount code THEFUTURE) at the 🔗! Second Summer Festival. 24-26 September in Toronto’s West End 🦝

SINGLE OF THE WEEK: Shiv and the Carvers – ‘Executionary’ Toronto skate-punks Shiv and the Carvers turn the anxiety spiral into big hooks, nervous momentum and the horrible recognition of a brain preparing for disaster before anything has even happened. Even better, they’re bringing that sharp, frantic energy to LOUD WOMEN Fest London at Rich Mix on Saturday 5 September. ‘Executionary’ is out now through Twin Fang Records, and our review is up on the site. 👆🔗

@shivandthecarvers return today with new single “Executionary” via @twinfangrecords premiering on @cupsncakesnet 😈 The song also arrives with a new music video inspired by lo-fi ‘90s DIY camcorder aesthetics, where Shiv awakens in the hazy aftermath of an all-night party, navigating a smoke-filled room. As the band carries the revelry into the next day, their hands and movements remain bound by ropes, struggling against invisible forces as they press on through the performance. Head over to cupsncakespod.com to watch now! 📸 @rockin_paddy
