Back in July, we had the incredible opportunity to be part of the Shorebreak Classic @shorebreakclassic and introduce HOPENA Foundation to a community that shares so much love for the ocean and our keiki 🌊

A special mahalo nui loa to the Shorebreak Classic and Twin Islands ‘Ohana @twinislands for making space for us, welcoming us with open arms, and allowing us to share Hopena’s story.

And to the incredible local businesses who donated goodies for our game and helped make the day even more meaningful, @hawaiicandyfactory , @crack_seed_store , @alohacollection ,and @projectreefsuncare , mahalo for supporting our mission and helping us give back to our keiki ❤️

1. Lanikai Pillbox, at sunrise (but the second pillbox)— set an alarm, hike in the dark if you have to. the view over the Mokes at sunrise is worth every step

2. Kayak to Popoia (FLAT ISLAND) — skip the long paddle to the Mokes, this one’s 10-15 minutes from Kailua Beach and just as magic, tide pools included

3. The Kawainui Marsh Trail — most visitors never find this one. three miles, flat, and full of birds, ducks, and quiet

4. UlupŌ Heiau — a sacred site that’s been here since ancient times, worth a respectful, quiet visit if you want to feel this island’s history, not just its beaches

5. The Sundays farmers market, 640 Ulukahiki st — this is where the island actually shows up, produce, food trucks, mountain views, real community

6. @twinislands and @oliveboutique for shopping, @naluhealthbar for healthy lunch and @chadlouscoffee for coffee.
