Fantastic work by Amanda and her labrador Connie, teaching the stop whistle. Connie still creeps up a little bit but this was her first practise so really well done !

Swipe for ENERGY, bar recipe ⬅️
.
I have developed this recipe for runners, cyclists, swimmers and CrossFitters, or anyone doing some longer form of training. If you are in need of some energy during your session and don’t fancy a gel, then this recipe is a great place to start. But why?
.
Because it is made with Rice Krispies it is lower in fibre than a flapjack and most “energy bars”. This makes it easier on the gut when intensity is high.
.
Other benefits are that it is easy to eat on the move, pretty light and very tasty.
.
When you make it tag me in your creation and use the hashtag #nutritionforenergybar
.
I decided to make this because I needed something for my ultra athletes for there long sessions. I work with clients to create race plans and design race day -1 plans.
.
Little treats like this can form a vital piece in the fuelling puzzle 🧩
.
If your interested in my race day fuelling, check out the link in my bio. ✅

It was a pleasure working with the @triswimcoaching 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️athletes @gcockroft1972 @twinksgx @jomillerpt during the 6 Week Challenge. I am so proud how well they all did during the Weekend Warrior (as many sprint triathlons as you can do in 2 days!).😅
.
They invested in themselves by increasing their nutrition knowledge. That is exactly what the 6 Week Challenge does, it teaches how to apply sport nutrition to your routine.
.
🤓When explaining nutrition, I like to give the reason why. The reason for that is because if you understand at that deeper level it will make it far more likely that you want to make the positive change.

GYM’S ARE OPEN & NEW NORMAL MOVES SLOWLY TO THE OLD NORMAL

What a brilliant time for me to reflect on the positive outcomes that came to us from a pandemic that no one saw coming, or affecting us as much as it did!

- we all realised that our expensive gym memberships didn’t need to be clung onto: we could get outside, run, cycle, paddle board & enjoy the precious hour we were allowed at the start of lockdown.
- We found loads of brilliant fitness professionals all offering live workouts and free content
- We found comradeship in Zoom group workouts : once we got over the fear that others would be watching us, and realised that we all have so much sweat in our eyes and that it’s hard to even focus on the instructor when jumping around your kitchen or living room.

And for those of us lucky enough to be leading those sessions: what an incredible demonstration of what people can do and how they can push themselves. Without fancy gym equipment but loving the banter, the pain, sending messages on screen asking what in hell could be coming next....

For me nothing better sums this up than my brilliant Tuesday night gang. They have genuinely brought such a high to my evenings and kept me going after endless days of questioning what kind of mum I am, wondering when this will all end, how can I pick up a rebuild a business I left 2 years ago???? Last Tuesday one of our circuit moves was the football shuffle- and only this gang would have me in hysterics with their choreography. I’m so grateful for technology that has bought us together and kept us moving through this strange time.

Whether you return to your gym (I’m definitely not knocking them- I’ve missed it too), or carry on your own journey you’ve recently discovered by pounding the streets or cycling through the countryside, or sticking with your Zoom group sessions.... just keep doing... keep moving.... keep pushing yourself and remember some of the magic from this pandemic!

Look at these smiles! In a 5 week period some of our squad swimmers have taken up to 20 seconds off their 100m times, by understanding and applying some fundamental techniques in the water. This is what the off season is all about, smashing goals ready for everything 2020 has to throw at us!
