A little C R Y S T A L L I N E progress update:

Now that some of life’s unexpected hurdles have finally cleared the way, I’ve been able to seriously accelerate development.

At this point, C R Y S T A L L I N E is approaching 50% complete.

For roughly half the album, I now have the #synthwave music, lyrics, and vocal melodies written and developed. The core of those tracks is there. From here, that half of the album still needs some arrangement refinement, final vocal tracking, mixing, and mastering.

A pretty substantial chunk of that progress has happened just within the last couple of weeks, and I’m pushing hard on the album now.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but it feels really damn good to finally see this thing taking shape.

C R Y S T A L L I N E is coming. 💎

Ai disclosure: The 8-Ball video clip is AI, the remainder is human made and music human made.

Aliens has always been my favorite film in the entire Alien franchise. It’s basically everything I love crammed into one movie: ’80s sci-fi, atmosphere, ridiculous hardware, Colonial Marines, Xenomorphs, and that perfect mix of horror and action.

And if you’ve only ever seen the theatrical cut, do yourself a massive favor and watch the Special Edition.

I will NEVER understand why they cut the sentry gun sequence from the theatrical release 😮‍💨 like wtf?

Besides just being fucking badass, that whole sequence actually tells you something important about the Xenomorphs. They keep throwing themselves at the guns, realize something is absolutely shredding them, and eventually back off without knowing the guns are almost out of ammunition. Then later... when everyone thinks they’ve bought themselves some breathing room, the Xenos find another way in.

They’re not just monsters running blindly toward people. They're smart, clever little bastards, and adapt.

That makes the moment when everyone realizes they’re coming through the ceiling so much better, because now there’s an actual progression to it. As a kid I even remembered the sentry guns, then years later watched the theatrical version and thought, “Wait… where the hell did the guns go?” Eventually I discovered the Special Edition and there they were 😂

So naturally, I had to commit a little cinematic sacrilege and give Hudson one additional piece of Colonial Marine equipment:

Headphones.

Dropship shaking violently on the way down to LV-426, everybody preparing for combat…and Hudson is just kicked back listening to Bending Grid.

Because pulse rifles, tactical nukes and sharp sticks are great and all…

…but you also need badass music. 😎

Rest in peace Kavinsky. The night will never sound the same.

Your music helped shape the sound and visual world that inspired an entire generation of electronic artists, myself included.

Thank you for the music Vincent. Your Nightcall will keep echoing long after you disappear into the fog.

With love,
Bending Grid

Sometimes life gets messy, and things don't always go according to plan. But one thing I never want is for anyone who supports my music to feel forgotten.

A little while back, Adam picked up a copy of Parallax and I promised him a signed copy. Due to some unexpected delays and life happening, it took longer than I wanted, but tonight I finally got everything signed and ready to head his way.

I also decided to include a signed copy of my debut EP as a thank you for his patience and support.

To everyone who listens, shares, buys music, or simply believes in what I'm creating: thank you. Your support means more than you know, and I never take it for granted. 💜

If you've been thinking about picking up the limited Parallax double LP vinyl edition, now is the time. Orders for the vinyl will be closing very soon, and once they're gone, they're gone. The Parallax double CD and my debut EP are still available on Bandcamp.

Also, the music playing in the background of this Reel is a little sneak peek of something new... 👀 It's an unreleased track from my upcoming second album, Crystalline. Consider this a taste of what's to come.

Thank you all for being part of this journey. More music is on the way.

Dark fantasy meets dark synthwave. 🖤🌙🎵🎼

Had an incredible time meeting local Charleston author Allison Paige ( @shewriteswithknives ) at Barnes & Noble in Mount Pleasant this weekend. Allison's work explores the darker side of what it takes to become a hero, weaving together dark fantasy, mythology, and morally complex characters that stay with you long after the final page.

As for me, being someone creating vocal dark synthwave music inspired by sci-fi, fantasy, and cinematic storytelling, it's always inspiring to connect with fellow South Carolina creatives who bring their own unique worlds to life.

Picked up signed copies of her books, had some great conversations, and loved seeing the local literary community come out to support independent authors.

Charleston and the Lowcountry have so many talented artists, musicians, and writers creating incredible things. Here's to supporting local creators and building each other up.

Check out Allison Paige's work if you're a fan of dark fantasy, complex characters, and immersive worlds.

A continuation from the BG Bass video, showing how I add different elements to a track as building blocks for a vibe. Later on adding other elements, restructuring the composition and flow, and eventually a completed song.

Just farting around on the music DAW. I often start with a bassline first, since it's my favorite element of music generally speaking. I have a feeling this is going to evolve into something awesome 🤔😎🔥

Drop 🔥 in comments if you dig it.

Album #2 is in development. The core music is already underway, and once the music is locked.... the vocals, lyrics, and chaos begin.

Building something massive 😎🤘
