You can get an #Edmontonhenge photo on Jasper Avenue at sunset for the next few days. This was tonight. I didn't think it was going to happen because of the clouds, but 10 minutes before sunset, the sun came through! Times would vary of course.

After a difficult summer following the flooding at TELUS World of Science, staff are slowly returning to work, with plenty still ahead before the exhibitions reopen.

Our five puppies stopped by to lift their spirits with cuddles, scent games and kibble hunts. Before long, everyone was down on the floor, playing, laughing and enjoying a little puppy love.

Thank you for having us. We’re so glad we could bring some joy to your day!

Some places are more than buildings they hold memories, curiosity, a sense of wonder that we don’t realize we are missing until the doors are closed.

I love that there is a tactile book of the moon published by NASA. This is part of the educational resources at TELUS World of Science and they brought it out as a pop-up event during the recent viewing of the partial solar eclipse from the RASC Observatory here at Coronation Park.
⬇️
Have you ever felt a tactile book before? They're essential educational resources for the blind. With 3D printing, the science centre also printed accessible tactile maps of the Apollo lunar landing sites.

TELUS World of Science has been a special part of #Edmonton for generations — bringing people together through learning, discovery, and curiosity.

The flooding this summer has caused significant damage, forcing @twosedm to temporarily close its doors. Our city stands with the entire team as you recover and rebuild.

Did you see the partial solar eclipse today? Where and when were you? Edmonton was able to see a 14% coverage and many astronomy fans came out to the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) Edmonton observatory by TELUS World of Science to see it.
⬇️
RASC handed out solar glasses to visitors while TELUS World of Science had some hands-on demos and activities set up on-site for folks to learn more.
⬇️
In the next 24 hours, you'll also see the parade of planets, as well as the Perseids meteor shower.

I originally wrote my poem A Star Named After You three years ago, when I dearly missed someone. What got me through one particular lonely night was a quote from Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith from the @bbcdoctorwho spin off series The Sarah Jane Adventures, "I learned a long time ago that, if you're missing somebody, just look up at the night sky. Whoever it is, wherever they are, chances are they're looking at the stars just like you."

During this time, as many of us wait with bated breath for the reopening of @twosedm, I ask that you consider the Be A Star program. The money will go towards The TELUS World Of Science in Edmonton as repairs are being made from a terrible flood and also to keep a small part of wonder alive in the world.

As many of you know, Telus World the Science @twosedm is closed right now due to damage from the recent floods; however, their Sweetgrass needs to be harvested and braided. We need some help and are looking for volunteers. Your help would be greatly appreciated!💚

Summer @sumbeading & Libby @libbybeans1970 of the Indigenous Initiatives Team and I will be at TWOSE’s Medicine Garden tomorrow, 7/30 & 8/4 -8/7 at 11:00 am. Volunteers will be able to take some braids home as well. If interested in volunteering, learning how to harvest and braid Sweetgrass, please DM me as soon as possible.
