BUILDING TERMINATORS.

Our offseason isn’t complicated. We throw hard, jump high, run fast, and pick up heavy things.

Then we record, rank, and publish to give our athletes something to chase.

And occasionally, mix in team competitions that everyone takes way too personally.

🐅⚾ BSN RECRUITING: MERRITT ISLAND’S TY BRANDES COMMITS TO AUBURN

From feeling overlooked to earning an opportunity in the SEC.

Merritt Island rising junior Ty Brandes has verbally committed to Auburn University, taking a major step toward his dream of eventually playing professional baseball.

Brandes broke out as a sophomore in 2026, batting .444 with a .565 OBP and 1.232 OPS, while scoring 44 runs, stealing 16 bases and posting a 2.23 ERA on the mound.

A switch hitter who can impact the game at the plate, in the field, on the bases and on the mound, Brandes credits his development in the weight room, his Merritt Island coaches and the support of his family for helping him reach this point.

But his work with the Mustangs isn’t finished.

🏆 Brandes still has two high school seasons remaining, and there’s one major goal he wants to accomplish before heading to Auburn: win a state championship.

🗣️ “I have learned that people are going to constantly doubt you and tell you that you’re not good enough. I just use these things as a way to push myself even harder.”

📲 How did Brandes go from feeling overlooked to becoming an SEC commit? Read the full recruiting feature, including his journey to Auburn, the sacrifices behind the commitment and what comes next, NOW on the Brevard Sports Network Facebook page.

Ty Brandes, the 480th overall ranked player in the Class of 2028, has announced his commitment to Auburn.

‘28 SS/RHP Ty Brandes (FL) can play all over the diamond & his athleticism shines on the field. He’s a 6.5 runner with quick hands from both sides of the dish with good feel for the barrel. He’ll also run the fastball into the upper-80s with feel on the bump. Brandes is a winning ball player that contributes in many facets.

THE RETURNING MI BASEBALL CORE CAN FLY.

Quick 30-yard test day at Week 6. We sprint twice a week. Early week is high CNS: fast, low volume, plenty of rest. Acceleration work, max intent, sometimes sleds. Later in the week we’ll hit technique and more fly-in sprints. Laser times keep dropping 💪

30-Yard Test Leaders
3.69 sec — @tybrandes7
3.81 sec — @jterry.9
3.82 sec — @grantarnold_22
3.86 sec — @ryder.widick
3.90 sec — @brody.vogel
3.90 sec — Ethan Noonan
3.98 sec — @bradyjensen_3

And we’ve got a few more knocking on the door...

It’s not exactly the same as a home-to-first time, but it gives us a good baseball-specific snapshot of acceleration and speed. Bottom line…these guys can fly.

Can’t wait to hit the offseason!

Speed doesn’t improve by accident. We test it every week, train it with intent, and chase small wins that stack.

Our speed work is simple: high intent, low volume, full recovery. Every rep has to be fast. And if you hit a PR? You’re done. That’s the day.

We’re not trying to make guys tired. We’re trying to make them faster.

Right now the board keeps changing. Faster fly times. Better acceleration. More guys creeping into higher speed tiers every week.

@tybrandes7 held our land-speed record for the past year.

@grantarnold_22 just took it clocking in at 19.45 MPH! 💨

And now a few more dudes are right on his heels.

That’s what makes it fun. Nobody gets to own the top spot forever. Although it’s only a matter of time until Ty regains pole position.

1–2% better at a time.

Stack enough of those and you become a different athlete.

The work is working.
