🐅⚾ BSN RECRUITING: MERRITT ISLAND’S TY BRANDES COMMITS TO AUBURN

From feeling overlooked to earning an opportunity in the SEC.

Merritt Island rising junior Ty Brandes has verbally committed to Auburn University, taking a major step toward his dream of eventually playing professional baseball.

Brandes broke out as a sophomore in 2026, batting .444 with a .565 OBP and 1.232 OPS, while scoring 44 runs, stealing 16 bases and posting a 2.23 ERA on the mound.

A switch hitter who can impact the game at the plate, in the field, on the bases and on the mound, Brandes credits his development in the weight room, his Merritt Island coaches and the support of his family for helping him reach this point.

But his work with the Mustangs isn’t finished.

🏆 Brandes still has two high school seasons remaining, and there’s one major goal he wants to accomplish before heading to Auburn: win a state championship.

🗣️ “I have learned that people are going to constantly doubt you and tell you that you’re not good enough. I just use these things as a way to push myself even harder.”

📲 How did Brandes go from feeling overlooked to becoming an SEC commit? Read the full recruiting feature, including his journey to Auburn, the sacrifices behind the commitment and what comes next, NOW on the Brevard Sports Network Facebook page.

Ty Brandes, the 480th overall ranked player in the Class of 2028, has announced his commitment to Auburn.

‘28 SS/RHP Ty Brandes (FL) can play all over the diamond & his athleticism shines on the field. He’s a 6.5 runner with quick hands from both sides of the dish with good feel for the barrel. He’ll also run the fastball into the upper-80s with feel on the bump. Brandes is a winning ball player that contributes in many facets. by @tybrandes7

I am humble and blessed to announce my commitment to Auburn University to further my academic and athletic career. First of all I want to say none of this is possible without my lord and savior Jesus Christ for giving me talent. Next I want to thank my parents for all of the sacrifices they had made for me none of this is possible without them. Lastly I want to say thank you to Coach Thompson for giving me this opportunity. I’m super excited what the future holds. Go Tigers! by @tybrandes7
