Alumni Spotlight: Tyler Gildin ⭐️

Tyler Gildin graduated from @newhousesu with a degree in Television, Radio and Film and has since gone on to lead his own production company, @gildin_media. His work is driven by a passion for creating authentic stories that spark curiosity and inspire conversation.

This month, Newhouse NYC students had the incredible opportunity to hear about Tyler’s journey in filmmaking and get an inside look at a test screening for one of his upcoming documentary projects.

Heading into the last year of my 30s feeling so grateful for my beautiful family, our new home, the most amazing friends, and above all, good health ♥️

Many past birthdays were quietly filled with hopes and prayers. Hopes to find my person, the desire to finally become a Mom, and prayers for my Mom’s health to miraculously improve. This year, I’m happy to say that my heart is so full. I have everything I need 🥰

One year without your love, your hugs, your guidance, and your wisdom. One year without my best friend 💜

I still reach for the phone to call you. I still look for signs that you’re close by. And I still cry—sometimes when I least expect it. Grief doesn’t get easier, it just changes. The ache is still there, just tucked a little deeper into my heart.

The kids are growing so fast, and you’d be so proud of them. Zander still asks for “Grandma tickles,” and Izzy loves getting purple manicures. She’s thriving and showing T1D who’s boss, and I know her strength is a gift from you. She reminds me of you every day—resilient, brave, and full of light.

As for me, I’m just trying to follow in your footsteps—to put family first, be a great friend and crush the Mom game. I’ve pulled a few “Melissa Gildins” lately (😉) and every time I do, I laugh and think, you taught me well.

There’s so much I want to tell you, and so much I still need you for. Your absence is felt in every big moment, and all the little ones too.

I miss you more than I could ever put into words. I love you forever, Mom 💔
