POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Wednesday our Digital Organizer, Ty Ballard (@tymia.db) along with other community organizer mobilized at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in solidarity with sexual violence survivors across college campuses. Together we provided resources, safer sex kits, and space for us to gather and stand for each and every person who has felt alone and unsupported. Thank you @saturadudley @taco_dogman @cell.a65 & @ydsauab for organizing & for all you do for others. We will not be silenced.

I Am Jane Doe Rally today at 5:30pm on UAB Campus Green: Birmingham joins the nation in standing with Jane Doe, Kendall Francis, & the millions who’ve been assaulted then had systems of power silence their voices while protecting their abusers. Our universities, workplaces, schools, political parties, & every other institution continue to let down those they are supposed to protect. We must demand better & fight for a safe world for all. Will you stand with us?

You know what’s REALLY spooky? Not knowing your voter registration status with the midterms right around the corner. TODAY, October 19, is the LAST day to register to vote in Alabama for the November 3 general election!

From reproductive rights to education and healthcare, there’s a lot at stake. Don’t wait until Election Day to get informed.

If I’m being honest, I could always use inspiration in my life. In a world that makes reality difficult to decipher at times, I find comfort in those courageous enough to offer their authentic selves through their gifts. I’m often impressed no matter the medium, but art holds a close place to my heart. 🎨💌

I’m a proud daughter of a multidisciplinary artist (@yvesgabrielstudio 🌟), but producing this exhibition (my first!) expanded my admiration for my father and all artists who speak truth to power. Simply by expressing life in motion, commotion & most ardently, devotion.

#NemesisRemember happened in the blink of an eye, making the experience all the more poignant and necessary. And working with this beautiful team continues to offer me a place to feel celebrated for my gifts, too. And I believe that is an exchange of the divine. 💫

While this show has wrapped, I invite you to explore the talents of the artists in this carousel. They are so deserving of support, accolades and generosity.

Congratulations to the #EMEI Year 3 cohort and our curator, @damonge on this magnificent debut exhibition, and to @julian.walker and @shikoeverafter_ — it is truly my honor to execute your visions. What. A. Time. This. Was. I’m grateful to have shared it with you. 👏🏾💞

And to every Black and Brown creative, you already know what it is — you are 1 of 1. Thank you for being a center of gravity in a dimension that’s often off axis. May you receive your flowers in every space, place & lifetime. 💐

What did sex ed teach you, and what did it leave out? We’re joining @urgeal_org @urgeuab, and @alyouthactivistalliance for the Young People’s Hearing on Sex Ed in Alabama!

Through storytelling and art we’re making space for young BIPOC LGBTQ+ Alabamians to share their experiences and reclaim the conversation around sex education.

we come to this place for magic. we come to museum galleries to laugh, to cry, to care because we need that, all of us... somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this 🍿🥹

last week my team put on the opening night of the Year 3 Equity in Media and Entertainment Initiative aka EMEI final exhibition titled Nemesis: Remember, at the @leslielohmanmuseum. 10 extraordinarily talented Black queer artists spent a whole year making new work and we finally got to see them displayed on the walls curated by @damonge, powered by @gileadsciences. and y’all 200+ New Yorkers showed up for it!! intricate paintings, breathtaking drawings, jaw dropping sculpture work, beautiful photographs, a gorgeous woven textile, a couple fireside chats, and a room full of laughter and bubbly, im so proud of everyone involved 💕✨

there’s a lot of nonsensical and unsettling events happening in the world as you know, so i dont take it lightly that i get to do work that is so community driven and specifically designed to uplift and celebrate one another, and i couldn’t ask for a better team to be doing this work with. thank you @julian.walker @dash.adelaide (my literal rocks through the roller coaster ride 😅) @donaebutler @sharsaysso @iamalexanderking @tymia.db @allyieldtotheequeen @soyjoseuseche (without your support this wouldn’t be possible) and @dashawnusher for founding & spearheading programs like this. this work, doing it with yall - it truly feels like chicken soup for the soul (did i lose any young folk with that reference ???)

aaaaand thank you to all my beautiful and effervescent friends who stopped by to support, yall are the bestest 🥰🥰🥰

now sit back, relax and enjoy the show 😉

New data shows ectopic pregnancy deaths are rising, with higher rates in states with strict abortion bans. Here in Alabama, ectopic pregnancy care is legally allowed but what does reproductive healthcare look like when getting care in time can be the difference between life and death?

Let’s talk about it.
