Still taking in the fact that I got to present for the first time at @nmachiv United States Conference on HIV/AIDS last month.

We spent three hours talking about what it looks like to tell HIV stories that are accurate, compassionate, culturally grounded, and actually informed by the communities represented.

But one thing I keep coming back to: we have to create a culture where we believe that anyone can be HIV possible. Where talking about HIV, advocating around HIV and sexual health, or simply wanting to learn more doesn’t automatically become a statement about someone’s status. And as a black woman who isn’t living with HIV, it’s important to understand how these conversations affect us all as a whole and to have open dialogue with those are living and thriving with HIV. We’re in this together.

Really grateful I got to bring my own perspective, lived experience, and years of doing this work into a room like this. First USCHA presentation down🫶🏾

And so much love for my colleagues @jerrell_hardnett @dashawnusher @julian.walker and @shikoeverafter_ for always pushing and rooting for me. Love you all🫶🏾 by @tymia.db

New data shows ectopic pregnancy deaths are rising, with higher rates in states with strict abortion bans. Here in Alabama, ectopic pregnancy care is legally allowed but what does reproductive healthcare look like when getting care in time can be the difference between life and death?

Let’s talk about it. by @tymia.db

Gen Z is the least knowledgeable generation about HIV, according to GLAAD’s 2026 State of HIV Stigma Report. So how do we close the gap?

Tymia “Ty” Ballard (@tymia.db) sat down with HIV and Reproductive Justice Advocate Nina Giddens (@msninacarina) to talk about meeting youth and young adults where they are, building trust, and creating HIV advocacy that actually speaks to a new generation.

Reaching young people takes more than giving them information—it means making sure they feel seen, included, and empowered to use it.

What does it look like when the people most impacted by HIV stigma help shape the research about it?

Kamaria Laffrey (@instakam3) , Co-Executive Director of The SERO Project (@theseroproject) and member of GLAAD’s HIV Stigma Advisory Council, shares why centering advocates using the Meaningful Involvement of People with HIV/AIDS (MIPA) framework was critical to the development of GLAAD’s 2026 State of HIV Stigma Report.

Understanding HIV stigma is not only about collecting data, but is about listening to the people living these realities and ensuring their experiences help shape how we understand and respond to stigma. by @tymia.db

GLAAD touched down at @nmachiv United States HIV and AIDS Conference (USCHA) in Anaheim, CA and so did this year’s State of HIV Stigma Report! Tymia “Ty” Ballard (@tymia.db) asked folks one simple question. What is missing from HIV media and storytelling?

While at @nmachiv #USCHA2026, we sat down with Marnina Miller @marninathequeen, Co-Executive Director of Positive Women’s Network-USA @pwn_usa , to talk about the ways HIV stigma shows up in maternal health and why people living with HIV deserve care that centers their dignity, autonomy, and full humanity.

Reproductive justice means supporting people’s right to have children, not have children, and raise their families in safe and sustainable communities and people living with HIV belong in every part of that conversation.

What would it look like to build maternal healthcare that truly leaves stigma behind? by @tymia.db
