'Pool Closed'

Tynemouth's pool, beneath the sun,
Where sea and laughter mixed as one.
Carved beside the restless shore,
It welcomed thousands, more and more.

The water sparkled, cold and clear,
A summertime tradition year by year.
Children learned to brave the chill,
While waves crashed loudly beyond the sill.

Winters weathered stone and rail,
Salt and storms would leave their trail.
Yet every season left its mark,
A beacon bright from dawn to dark.

Though the pool is gone today,
Its spirit never washed away.
In every tale the old folk tell,
Its waters rise, remembered well.

For history lives where memories stay;
On Tynemouth's coast, by the North Sea spray.

With long gone Gala Land and a dream slowly returning to the sea, a genuine vintage photograph of the attractions of the beach in Tynemouth, full of memories of trips to the coast from city, pit and field.
It will be available at the Vintage Fair by @ilovenorthshields on the 26th July along with other real photographs of people and places from the past 180 years.

A summer evening in Tynemouth, done right☀️🎶

There are some places that just come alive in the summer and Tynemouth is definitely one of them. I popped down to the coast last night to capture the first evening of Mouth of the Tyne Festival, and what an atmosphere there was ☀️😎

The Mouth of the Tyne Festival transforms the coastline. Live music beneath Tynemouth Priory and Castle, beaches full of people making the most of the sunshine and an atmosphere that’s hard not to love.

It’s one of those moments that reminds me why I love photographing this part of the North East. Watching everyone enjoying the coastline, listening to the music drifting across the beach and seeing Tynemouth at its busiest is something I look forward to every year.

What’s your favourite thing about Tynemouth in the summer? ☀️

Pop by @justcanny126 on Park View to see my new prints including ‘Tynemouth Pool Reimagined’ @tynemouthoutdoorpool!

Have a wonderful day however you spend it…I’ll be baking in the sunshine at a school summer fayre 🌞🌸🍓.

A few years after my last post and things have changed somewhat along Tynemouth Long Sands.
The railway and the need to escape the daily grind and dirt of the city, brought the crowds to coastal spots.
A moment before, much later, foreign travel fell in the reach of many people.
A lovely original photograph that tells a much bigger story.

120m vertical reveal over Tynemouth Lido with the DJI Mini 4 Pro 🚁

A quick lunchtime flight capturing the geometry, coastline, and that crisp North East light. Sometimes the simplest moves say the most—steady rise, controlled exposure, let the scene do the work.

Shot in under 60 seconds, but all about timing and conditions.
