I don’t really do running events for the community aspect, but I’m always surprised at how fulfilling it is, even more so than the running. Hood to Coast was that to the max. How can I be so proud of people I didn’t know before Friday? Especially my van 2 brothers. We just wanted to have a good time with new friends, but we accidentally kicked ass and finished 86th out of 1271. @justinbritt68 is an absolutely g for letting me be a part of the team. As always, thanks to all the volunteers, and to my off-course crew chief and logistics manager @type1superstar, and @lucianmiller_, @liliamiller14, and Savvy for the support. #nosleeptillseaside. #runtherace

Sickest inheritance ever, a carbon road bike! Extra special coming from my late father-in-law Bill. Olympia Trek put on new stem, tires, brake pads, rear derailleur, cassette, flats, chain, seat, etc, and a thorough tune and clean. Boy blue is ready to roll.

My soft flask runneth over! Great weekend in Ashland for the last ever Pine to Palm 100. Lots of trailrunning on prime Siskiyou mountain trails… bears, pizza, whiskey, coffee… all the good stuff. Wish I would’ve been able to run it again, but I’m grateful it was my first 100 mile finish two years ago. And man, aid station volunteering was a powerful experience. Deep in the mountains at mile 60, we saw lots of carnage and grit. Pukers, sleepers, a variety of medical situations, and an inspiring amount of determination and will. The trailrunning community is the best community ever. Thanks @halkoerner and @roguevalleyrunners.

Climbed a lot of mountains this year. Many literal and a few figurative. The soreness is mostly gone, but some pain remains. Let’s all get together and go big in 2025.

At mile 85.5 of the Rio Del Lago 100 around 11:20 pm (I took note in case any runners were missing) I heard the visceral and horrifying sound of an effective mountain lion kill just behind me pierce the darkness. What a ridiculous sport ultrarunning is. Also here’s a couple more photos from the race. Can’t wait for the next one!
