When my oldest nephew started nursing school two years ago, I told myself I would make another film by the time he finished his program. As artists, we are constantly thinking when we will start birthing new projects. To be completely honest the wheels were finally set in motion in the last few months. The original seeds of this piece really began in '23 during my grad studies when we started playing with VR storytelling techniques I’m so grateful for @latinofilminstitute_ and @weareagog which helped bring this to fruition. My first immersive short, NECUHTLI (Nectar in Nahuatl) premieres at this years @laliff_ available to view in Theatre lobby at TCL @chinesetheatres 6-9PM May 28-30 for Free The Aztec Goddess Tonantzin has long been a symbol of resilience for social movements across time. Wisdom keepers serve as our community's weavers, creating pathways that honor indigenous healing traditions while fostering vibrant collective life. Through this immersive project, we enter a poetic landscape of enchantment, destruction, and survival, led by a practitioner deeply experienced in redefining community care and leadership. Honored to feature @dr.pattyramirez, a transnational social worker, healing-centered facilitator, devoted to cultivating ecosystems of care, cultural memory, and collective well-being. A Xicana Indígena and Salvadoran daughter of diaspora, she walks with the medicine of her ancestors, weaving sacred traditions with liberatory practice. Thank you to all my family, friends, collaborators who helped make this project possible.
