Our BFAs are hard at work and settled in to the new Drawing Studios! Today we want to shine a spotlight on fourth-year BFA Coral Frydrychowski. Coral is vice president of the Drawing & Painting Association @ua_dapa and inhabits one of the sunny studios in the back. About her work she says: “I’m currently interested in mess and personal spaces. A lot of my work revolves around my bedroom and home, and my existence in them! I’m really into mixed media and collage, and getting my hands on all kinds of colorful materials.” Check out Coral’s work and stay tuned for updates from DAPA! #uarkdrawing #uarkart @coralrfry

new work from this semester 😇 My work is layered to the point of confusion producing some moments lost and some moments found. The work offers just enough information to give somebody a direction as a destination, to dream about, or relate to. I find myself expressing the personal narrative of my world through abstraction, obstructing text and the visual material that has impacted me. By taking memories that I have made, I sift through it, funneling in what gets to stay recognizable or what will become abstracted or choosing what will completely change. Each abstracted memory holds the energy, character, emotion, and words I place the memory with using different mark making, collage, and color. To celebrate Earth Day, we’ve partnered up with DAPA to have a chalk event. This is to bring awareness about the current state of our planet and how it affects impoverished women and children. Come join us and decorate the sidewalk with your beautiful Earth Day art! Drive by the FNAR parking lot on Wednesday the 21st, and we’ll give you your own chalk. Then, take a picture and use #uarkearthday to show your support! See you then!
