Congratulations to W⚽️ Maria Georgacacos and M🏐 Thys Weststrate for being named this week’s Athletes of the Week powered by Meal Prep For You!!

Georgacacos finished her sophomore season with a sensational four-goal weekend, scoring twice against the TRU WolfPack and then finding the back of the net in the 83rd minute before scoring the equalizer in added time on Sunday to help erase a two-goal deficit against the UNBC Timberwolves. Her relentless attacking paid off when it mattered most, as she headed home a cross from teammate Megan Sun to secure a hard-fought draw. Georgacacos ends the 2026 campaign ranked third in the conference and 13th in U SPORTS with eight goals.

Weststrate began the 2026-27 regular season with an impressive all-around performance. The fifth-year middle hit a combined .649 over two games against the Brandon Bobcats, totalling 26 kills and 7.5 blocks, including three consecutive block assists that helped the Heat secure a 25-16 fourth-set win in Saturday’s 3-1 victory. His impact in the victory extended to the service line, as he tied the school single-match record with seven aces and leads both the country and conference in aces and hitting percentage.

The records keep coming! 👏

A week after setting the Canada West career saves record, UBCO men’s goalkeeper Ronan Woodroffe has added another historic achievement, becoming the Canada West single-season saves leader.

Ronan made 10 saves last night against the TRU WolfPack, pushing his season total to 106 to surpass the previous mark of 99 held by Daniel Zadravec of UNBC.

Congratulations, Ronan!
