The best time to prepare for a lost pet is while they’re safely beside you. 💜🐾 Halifax Humane Society is partnering with graduate students from UCF’s College of Community Innovation and Education to help more Volusia County families discover and register with Petco Love Lost. This free nationwide database uses AI photo-matching technology to help connect lost pets with the families searching for them. Whether a separation happens during a hurricane, an evacuation, or through an accidentally open gate, having your pet’s profile ready can help support the search. Together, we’re developing a countywide outreach plan that brings shelters, rescue organizations, local governments, disaster responders, and pet parents into the effort. Our goal is to help more pets return home and reduce unnecessary shelter admissions. “One of the most heartbreaking experiences a pet parent can face is losing a beloved companion,” said Sean Hawkins, CAWA, CFRE, CEO of Halifax Humane Society. “By helping more families register with Petco Love Lost before an emergency happens, we can improve the chances of a quick reunion and reduce the number of pets entering shelters unnecessarily.” You can take that first step today. Create a free profile with your pet’s photos and identifying information, then encourage another pet parent to do the same. Learn more and register through our Petco Love Lost page: https://www.halifaxhumanesociety.org/lost-a-pet/ Thank you to @ucfccie and @petcolovelost for working alongside us to help keep pets at home with their loving families, and to @prnewswire for spotlighting this partnership and helping spread awareness of this important resource. Undergraduate research is powerful because of the people behind it. 🚀 We are thrilled to celebrate UCF’s recognition as a Top 10 Public University for Undergraduate Research & Creative Projects by U.S. News & World Report. This honor reflects the curiosity, creativity, and dedication of our student researchers, as well as the commitment of the research mentors who guide, challenge, and support them every step of the way. Faculty, postdoctoral scholars, graduate students, and campus partners help create transformative experiences that shape the next generation of scholars, innovators, and leaders. We are proud to support a campus culture where students can engage in meaningful research and creative scholarship alongside dedicated mentors, turning curiosity into discovery and potential into impact. Congratulations to all who make undergraduate research thrive at UCF!🔭✨
