Watched Nolan's #Oppenheimer...got me thinking back to my 2 months in Hiroshima City in 2004/05. A privilege to have been introduced to many survivors of the Atomic Bomb (to paint their portraits for an exhibition in the city marking 60th anniversary of the event). Final image shows University College London Art Museum @uclartmuseum, where the drawings are now housed (viewing by appointment).

Our featured artist today is @celestinethomas

Celestine will be exhibiting her work at the 'Words from the Sky' exhibition, part of the wider event A Murmuration ll: The right to participate, brought to by MA students @ucl @ioe

Thomas' work is rooted in her lifelong fascination with colour, further fueled by her experience as a person with dyslexia. Thomas channels this dynamic language into paintings and as someone who finds it more accessible to express themselves through colour than traditional language. Celestines' semi-abstract artworks are visually striking and offer a unique insight into a child-like and imaginative world.

We are delighted that a series of Celestines' paintings and sculptures will be exhibited at the 'Words from the Sky' exhibition @resourceforlondon

Opening:
25th May 18.00 - 21.00

Exhibition Continues:
26th May - 1st July
10.00 - 18.00

Alphonse Legros (1837-1911) was Sarah Cecilia Harrison’s professor at the Slade School of Fine Art.

Legros often performed painting demonstrations (like the example above) for the students, which were very popular.

Thanks to @gearoidart for discovering that this painting was also exhibited at the Grosvenor Gallery in 1878! (Swipe to see sketch of the painting in the catalogue)
