I attended the Crafternoon session hosted by @washedupcards @studentsunionucl @uclstudentsocialimpact back in March

Using junk collected at the River Thames by another volunteer team, we decorated these adorable cards and used our imagination to turn the template into something personal and fun
I felt so inspired by this session bc along side that i was on my junk journaling journey (I still am!!)
It really highlighted to me how sustainable a hobby can be, keeping and turning daily junk into art instead of letting it go to a landfill or the river!
I also thought it helped kick start a more zero waste life for me, as I am more aware of the trash I produce from just everyday activities like cooking and having a snack. So by being more mindful like this, hopefully I can make an impact on the environment, little by little.

Some zero waste/ eco friendly things I do include:
Bringing my own coffee cups to cafes
Using metal straws
Reusable shopping bag
Buying loose produce when I can
Store pick ups for online orders
Avoid using AI chat bots for simple tasks

Unfortunately a completely zero waste life is almost impossible in our bustling cities unless you live in the most rural of places
But I believe in the impact of the ‘power with’ — the collective ability of people to act in concert. (Arendt, 1996) If 100 people brought their own reusable cups into a cafe, then that’s 100 single use plastic cups saved from going to landfills; our micro actions, when in concert, become macro effects.

Let’s make the change today!

(ps hi to the two lucky friends that recieved this card from me xx)
