We, as UC student leaders, demand the immediate resignation of UC Regent Jay Sures for his complicity in Islamophobia and his continued efforts to suppress anti-genocide advocacy. We refuse to stay silent in the face of injustice and repression. ✊✊ Read our statement above.

Today, we celebrate #IndigenousPeoplesDay and honor the history, culture and contributions of Native American and Indigenous peoples—past, present and future. The UC and its ten campuses sit on ancestral and unceded territories of diverse tribes and nations, and we encourage you to learn more about the land you occupy at native-land.ca. 🌱🤲🏞️ UCSA is committed to empowering Native and Indigenous students, including through our SEED campaign—which has advocated for university compliance with NAGPRA and stronger data collection to ensure equitable support. 🗣️ #IndigenousPeoplesDay #nativeamerican #studentadvocacy

The Department of Homeland Security has proposed to impose a $103,265 fee to all H-1B cap-subject applications. If passed, the fee would become a detrimental barrier for international students and new immigrants seeking to join the US workforce. Submit a public comment to the federal register by September 24th, 20:59PST / 23:59 EST to speak against the H-1B Fee. Anonymous comments are accepted!! Link in comment and in bio.

Today, our University Affairs Chair Zaynab made public comment to the UC Regents during their meeting at UCLA, opposing the reinstatement of the SAT/ACT standardized testing as admissions requirements. 🗣️📊🚫 Access to the premiere public research university, the UC, must be rooted in data and center student success, not a test that measures wealth over college readiness. UCSA urges the Regents to shut down any consideration of bringing back the SAT on future generations of UC students and instead explore critical reforms like closing basic needs insecurity gaps that dramatically impact student persistence yet continue facing tens of thousands of our peers. #SAT #collegeaccess #educationequity

This weekend, our 2026-27 Board of Directors hosted our September meeting at the beautiful @UCDavis. 🐎🌳🏆 Shoutout to our Exec team and campus delegations for a wonderful, community-oriented weekend. Thank you @asucd.eavp for hosting us, UC Basic Needs for presenting on college student essential needs data, and our International Student Affairs Officer for an update on visa barriers facing thousands of UC students. We heard an update on our 2026 Legislative priorities, received a visit from UCOP on system policies, & toured incredible student-initiated programs supporting hundreds of underrepresented UC Davis students. See you all in October at UC Riverside! 🪩 #studentleadership #advocacy #board #ucstudents

Phone Bank your Legislators Today! Here’s How: Call these numbers: Senate Pro Temp Monique Limon CAPITOL OFFICE NUMBER: (916) 651-4021 DISTRICT (SANTA BARBARA) OFFICE NUMBER: (805) 965-0862 DISTRICT (OXNARD) OFFICE NUMBER: (805) 988-1940 DISTRICT (OXNARD) OFFICE NUMBER: (805) 346-2845 LEGISLATIVE DIRECTOR EMAIL: MISA LENNOX (MISA.LENNOX@SEN.CA.GOV) Speaker Robert Rivas CAPITOL OFFICE NUMBER: (916) 319-2029 DISTRICT (SALINAS) OFFICE NUMBER: (831) 759-8676 LEGISLATIVE DIRECTOR EMAIL: MÓNICA HENESTROZA (MONICA.HENESTROZA@ASM.CA.GOV) Governor Newsom OFFICE NUMBER: (916) 445-2841 Script: Hi, my name is I am a student at UC [add your position or affiliation], and a constituent of [only if you live in the district). I am calling to urge [Senator Limón’s / Speaker Rivas’s / Governor Newsom’s] support for ACA 18, the Student Regent Empowerment Amendment, authored by Assemblymember Jessica Caloza and Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens, with 33 legislative co-authors in the Assembly and Senate, and sponsored by the UC Student Association. ACA 18 would seat two voting Student Regents on the UC Board of Regents, one undergraduate and one graduate student. Right now, a single student holds one vote for nearly 300,000 of us, on the body that sets our tuition, approves our housing, and governs campus policy. ACA 18 currently has 33 co-authors, and so far has cleared every policy committee and passed the Assembly Floor 76-0. Not one legislator has voted against it. It is sitting on the Senate Appropriations suspense file after being pulled from the agenda on August 13 without explanation, and August 31 is the last day the Legislature can pass it. If it not adopted by then, the measure dies and students must start over from scratch. Students are under real pressure this year, and we need our state leaders standing IKeS with us. This one is a scheduling decision, and it is entirely within your power. Please move ACA 18 forward before the deadline and put students first! Thank you for your time.

my committee: debating, my students: activating, my language: not erasing, anti-racism policy: staying! UC-wide student organizing stopped proposed revisions that would have removed “anti-racism” and “diversity” from the UC Sustainable Practices Policy and replaced them with weaker language. Through campus organizing, a UC-wide sign-on letter to UCOP, and coordinated advocacy across the system, students made the message clear: these commitments matter. When students organize, policy shifts!
