What a night to remember 💙

#UDubuque held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on October 7 to celebrate the completion of extensive renovations at the Edward Babka Aviation Learning Center. We are thankful to everyone who made this project possible.

Kenadi Sovey, student body president and a junior flight operations major, was one of the night’s speakers.

“… We are watching UD grow, not simply for the sake of becoming bigger, but for the sake of becoming better. Every new classroom, every new facility, every new program is another opportunity for a student to discover what they are capable of and take one step closer to the future we imagine for ourselves…”

Celebrate with us at the Edward Babka Aviation Learning Center Expansion and Hangar Addition Ribbon Cutting and Open House at 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 🚁 ✈

“In aviation, when you get a little wind under your wings all you want to do is soar. As the University of Dubuque’s aviation enrollment continues to grow, it’s fitting that the facilities grow with it, bringing the program to new heights.” - Joshua Elmshaeuser, assistant professor of aviation.

#UDubuque’s rotor-wing training will soon include a state-of-the-art Cabri G2 AATD simulator from entrol, one of the manufacturer leaders of certified simulators worldwide located in Madrid, Spain.

The simulator’s flight deck is built as an exact replica of the Guimbal Cabri G2, the primary training helicopter operated by UD. This aircraft-specific layout provides students with direct continuity between classroom theory, simulator practice, and actual flight operations.

“… It will allow our students to practice procedures and challenging scenarios in a controlled environment before encountering them in the aircraft, giving them more repetition while improving safety, confidence, and decision-making,” said Evan Lawler (C’20), chief flight instructor – helicopter.

The device is scheduled for installation in 2027.

Made a last-minute decision to go to EAA Airventure Oshkosh 2026

Cool aviation stuff everywhere
Constant flying actions all around us
Watching the fantastic airshows (especially the night one!!!)
Spending three days with Mike
Meeting Chris Palmer from Angle of Attack (First aviation content creater that I followed!)
Visiting the UD Aviation booth as an alum
And so much more!!!

This was one of the best birthday present I could give to myself (among many other great things in life right now 😊🥰)

Goodbye year 27, onto 28~

During EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in the USA the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa, has selected the Airliner simulator, a training device designed to teach both A320 and B737 operational philosophies within a single platform. To complement the Airliner, the University has also selected a new ALSIM solution: the Airliner Touch, further enhancing its airline training capabilities.
The Airliner is a hybrid simulator that combines fly-by-wire and conventional flight controls, offering the ideal platform for Crew Resource Management, APS MCC, and MPL Phase II training.
