An internship can change the way you see the world around you. 🌳

Spencer Williams, a junior Wildlife Conservation and Ecology major with a minor in Museum Studies and Public Engagement, spent this summer as an environmental education intern at Brandywine Creek State Park through the Delaware State Parks internship program.

As a seasonal naturalist, Spencer hosted programs on historical and environmental topics, developing skills in interpretation and public speaking.

"But what I found most meaningful, was watching how each visitor appreciated the park and land in different ways. Whether they were attending a program, walking their dog, smelling the flowers, or taking pictures of the butterflies, each person had a different perspective of a relatively small state park."

Interested in finding an internship that connects your interests with hands-on experience? Join us at the Internship Symposium on September 30 to hear from fellow UD students and explore opportunities you can pursue while at UD.

Coming back to the University of Delaware always feels special, but this tour gave me a whole new perspective on a place I once called home. 🌾💙💛

Thank you to Dean Brian Farkas for welcoming me back and giving me a firsthand look at the incredible work happening within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

As Miss Delaware, I’m proud to use this platform to celebrate the people, programs, and industries that make our state so special and to encourage the next generation to see themselves as part of Delaware’s future.

thank u @udelaware for the best four years i could ask for <3 even with all the highs and lows i would do it all over again in an instant

@annagbender told me at the start of senior year to live every day like it was freshman year again, and looking back now, i can confidently say i did just that 💙💛

She believed she could, so she did…

Except, for a long time, I didn’t know if I could.

Throughout my journey to this moment, there were so many obstacles, so many moments of doubt and uncertainty that hit harder than I ever expected. There were times I rerouted my path, paused, and almost gave up completely. But somehow, step by step, I kept going.

Today, I’m graduating from the University of Delaware with my B.S. in Animal Science on the Pre-Veterinary Medicine track, and I know with my whole heart that I did not get here alone.

I owe everything to my village, every person who showed me love, support, friendship, patience, and reassurance when I needed it most.

Moving to Delaware alone was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but the family I gained here is something I’ll carry with me forever. To the professors and mentors who believed in me, pushed me, and treated me like their own daughter, thank you for helping me see potential in myself that I couldn’t always see on my own. To the friends and classmates who showed me kindness and held my hand through some of the most difficult moments of my life, thank you because without you I would not be here today.

Lastly, thank you to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (home). I could not have pictured another place to have studied and learned. The love I have for my beautiful college is immense. I will miss you CANR and all of the animals.

The unfortunate number of angels I’ve gained these last few years has been indescribable. But I feel their love and presence surrounding me in every step I take. Today, that feeling is especially overwhelming. This accomplishment is for them too.

Angels all around me, always 🕊️

Busy two weeks for NCCD Outreach!

We kicked off at the Delaware Envirothon - congratulations to Odessa FFA & Agriscience for a back-to-back win! 🏆

From there, we met 500+ people at UD Ag Day, teaching about soil health (yes, with the giant foam burger 🍔), shared local soil insights during NACD Stewardship Week, and celebrated conservation leaders at the Governor’s Conservation Awards.

We wrapped it all up at the White Clay Creek Festival, engaging with hundreds more - burger in hand!

Thanks to everyone who interacted with us! Want to learn more? Visit the link in our bio 🔗
