POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant Director Mark Risse will serve as the lead PI on an $8 million grant from NOAA Fisheries to lead a regional effort to restore salt marshes across the South Atlantic.

The project will evaluate how dredged sediment from navigational waterways can help salt marshes adapt to rising sea levels by raising marsh elevations, supporting plant growth and enhancing habitat.

Working through the South Atlantic Salt Marsh Initiative, UGA will partner with organizations in NC, SC, Georgia and Florida to develop engineering designs for restoration projects in each state. The projects could restore 326 acres of salt marsh while creating a regional blueprint for using dredged sediment to strengthen marshes and help coastal communities become more resilient.

Let the pieing begin 🥧🤩

This week three of our ambassadors got the opportunity to pie staff members as a reward for raising over three hundred dollars for our Back to School Fundraiser. And as you can see they had the best time. We are so proud of our ambassador cohorts for raising over $3,000 this past month towards this effort! With that being said, there’s still time to donate and we’re so close to accomplishing our goal! Give today. Make an impact. Go Dawgs! 💌
