Winter WonderLights, voted Athens’ best local event five years in a row, will return to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia this November! 🎉

As daylight fades, the gardens will come alive with over 2 million sparkling lights, as familiar landscapes transform into a festive nighttime experience, with s’mores, beverage stations and a holiday market along the way.

Tickets for the show are now available for purchase at wonderlights.uga.edu. Ticket sales support the garden’s critical native plant conservation, education and outreach work.

Associate Professor Sharon Parker recently participated in the UGA New Faculty Tour, which is designed to introduce faculty to Georgia’s geography, demographics, economy, history and culture while familiarizing them with UGA’s land-grant and sea-grant missions and longstanding commitment to serving the state. Coordinated by UGA Public Service and Outreach, the immersive experience takes faculty beyond Athens to meet the people and visit the communities, industries and landscapes shaping Georgia. Drs. Smita Rawal and Cameron Thomas, assistant professors in the Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy in Athens, recently participated in UGA’s New Faculty Tour with UGA Public Service and Outreach.

To remember the experience and share what she learned along the way, Rawal documented the four-day journey.
