These amazing students surprised me with a goodbye gift of an incredible performance of a new horn choir arrangement by sophomore music education student Cameron Hofmeyer. Words just don’t suffice, there was so much love and pride in the room on Friday night. I am going to miss the @uiowahornstudio SO much, and I am so proud to be a part of the legacy there.

Looking back at NTC 2026!

This year, we had the incredible opportunity to host the @nationaltrumpetcomp ! Congratulations to both of our large ensembles for fantastic performances, with UI Black kicking jt off the large ensemble competition, and UI Gold advancing to Semifinals! 🎶

We had the pleasure of having Natalie Roth and Joshua Levy represent the studio in the undergraduate and graduate solo divisions! 🎺

That’s not all! As well as having the opportunity to perform, we also had a great time volunteering over the course of the week with the help of our friends @uiowahornstudio ! Thank you for helping us make this event possible! 📯

Recording is from our October band concert. We opened the concert with a brass feature, playing Silver Fanfare (JaRod Hall). This was a super fun piece to play, especially on the organ balcony! sorry for the cropped angle, but the audio is incredible!

The Minnesota Orchestra paid a visit to Iowa City this weekend!

After a remarkable concert in @uihancher , Voxman became the site of multiple masterclasses featuring musicians from the ensemble. The trumpet studio alongside @uiowahornstudio had the pleasure of hosting Jaclyn Rainey, the Associate Principal Horn, and James Vaughen, the Principal Trumpet! 🎶

Thank you Iowa for an unforgettable time! ❤️

Lately, the world feels so divided, even within our own families, where we should feel safest. As many of you know, I recently got married, and I was reminded that there are parts of me I should never have to apologize for: I am Korean, an immigrant, and a woman pursuing a career. I don’t need these to be celebrated, just respected. Instead, I was met with hurtful behavior, and the hardest part was seeing my parents experience it too.

My new work, The World According to…, was born from that pain, reflection, and the decision to finally speak up. We’ve all seen the phrase “If you see something, say something”. I used to stay quiet, but I’ve learned that change begins when we dare to say, “Something is wrong.”

Thank you Jamie and Kenny for believing in me, and to the incredible musicians at the University of Iowa— your dedication, time, and heart meant the world ❤️✨🥹
