Ride the wave.

Urges, cravings, and difficult emotions can feel intense in the moment, but they don't last forever. Try naming what you're feeling, noticing it rise and fall, and giving yourself space to breathe.

Remember: you don't have to act on every urge. The strengths, skills, and supports you already have can help you ride it out. 💙 "Ride the Wave” featuring a large wave-shaped curve to illustrate how emotions rise, peak, and eventually pass. Text reads, “Emotions are like waves, they can be strong, but they eventually pass.” Three steps are shown along the wave: Label (“Name your emotion”), Surf (“Notice your emotion growing, peaking and fading”), and Breathe (“In: I'm here. Out: I'm okay.”). The design uses shades of blue with ocean wave imagery along the bottom and the Instagram handle @uiowacrp in the lower right corner. The graphic promotes a mindfulness strategy for coping with difficult emotions and urges by observing, accepting, and breathing through them rather than reacting immediately.
