Want to plant a tree on campus that will live for years after you graduate? We are hosting an exciting event to celebrate Tree Week, where you will get the chance to plant a tree right outside of the new Kirwin Blanding dorm!🌳

On October 14th, we will host Tree Fest -- students are welcome to participate in tree planting, tree climbing with Canopy Cats and @ukcampusrec , and tabling with various student organizations!

*RSVP for tree climbing on Campus Recreation's website!

Tree Week is approaching! Celebrate with us by attending Tree Fest on October 14th, 12-3pm, near Kirwin Blanding and Ingles Hall.

On the UK campus, the statewide Tree Week celebration will take shape through UK TreeFest, this year’s signature Tree Week event. Scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, near the Kirwan-Blanding complex and Ingels Hall, the event will bring together UFI, UK Sustainability, Canopy Cats, Campus Recreation and UK Grounds for tree climbing, tree planting and sustainability outreach.
Participants can learn about the equipment and techniques used to climb trees safely with Canopy Cats and Campus Recreation, then experience climbing a rope into the large white oak. Students may also help UK Grounds’ arboriculture team plant six native trees in campus locations approved by Campus Planning and UK Grounds. Sustainability-focused student organizations will share information and opportunities throughout the afternoon. The UK Student Sustainability Council funds the tree planting.
