Thanks to @celine_cardineau for putting together this clip from the UKG 514 event that happened last Thursday at Barbossa in Montreal. All the DJs brought high energy sets transforming the club into a bouncy castle of bass. I love performing in this space, the back corner on the dance floor is the perfect place to create. Can’t wait for my next chance to art dance 🕺🏼 ▪️❤️🔹 #ukg #barbossa #mtlblog #mtlnightlife #enjoytheride

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SKELETRON We’ve talked about the music, we've told you about the vibe but for the UKG 514 crew, bringing art to the floor is of the utmost importance! Every single event had a form of live artistic performance and this edition is no different. Introducing Skeletron (Ryan Mason) who is a video installation artist navigating the liminal spaces between analog nostalgia and digital futurism. His practice revives forgotten CRT monitors, analog video cameras, and vintage mixers, weaving them into interactive ecosystems where glitches and grain become the language of expression. By marrying retro analog hardware with modern digital tools, Mason challenges the sterile precision of modern media and screens, instead celebrating the warmth and unpredictability of decaying signals. His installations invite audiences to touch, play, and disrupt, transforming viewers into collaborators in the analog-digital dialogue. Come for the music, get to know this community, and leave elevated! UKG 514: Old School Signal. New School Sound. When: Saturday, June 27th Time: 10:00 PM – 3:00 AM Where: Bar L'idéal, 151 rue Ontario E, Montreal (Safe space LGBTQA+) Cover: $10 at the door all night (if finances are an issue please DM us to work something out 🫶) #ProperMTL #UKG514 #Skeletron #CRTArt #GlitchArt

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: DANTE With UKG 514’s next event less than a week away, we sat down with one of the DJs from the crew's first winter lineup. We discussed Luke’s passion for garage music, the artists who inspire his creative process, and his upcoming projects for the months ahead. A huge draw for Luke aka DANTE is the way that the UK rave scene has developed from a range of diverse musical influences and traditions. He thinks the fusion of hip-hop, Jamaican sound system culture, R&B, and various strands of rave music has allowed many distinct styles of garage to blossom in really exciting ways. He loves the fact that garage can mean so many different things to different people, and as a DJ there’s just endless directions he can take a garage set. His inspirations recently are a few slept-on producers that he wants to highlight, such as Trustee, Adam BFD, Plus One, Fold, cu.rve, and Prizefight. He really aligns with the more textured and emotive sides of garage, and thinks these artists are consistently testing the boundaries of the genre and pushing things forward. Luke is always inspired by artists who don’t box themselves into one sound. We can't speak with him without highlighting @concretebreaks, a collective he co-founded that has plenty of exciting things in store. They have international artists that they’re ecstatic to host coming up (more on that soon), as they’re looking to continue to build a home for forward-thinking and experimental bass music. Most importantly, Concrete Breaks is focused on continuing to empower our communities creative impulses and providing an alternative to the commodification of the scene. They really try to give people meaningful and authentic experiences, where everything from the music to the lighting to the art is executed with intention. Don’t miss your chance to experience this exceptional artist’s vision next Saturday, June 27th, at @lidealmtl . Catch his set from 11:00 PM to 12:30 AM, sharing the bill with @kaderito_dj , plus support from Kio and Facekini. Door: $10 📸 @allmyfriendsaredjz #ProperMTL #UKG514 #DANTE #ConcreteBreaks #MontrealUnderground

Introducing our first guest DJ showcase for the next UKG514, KADERITO! He is a Montreal-based DJ spinning multi-genre sets spanning grimey basslines, fast drums, and raw bounce. Expect a UKG set with a side of Baile & Favela energy! This summer is jam-packed for KADERITO! He’s booked for a b2b at Atmos Festival with Elixar, where they’ll deliver an exciting fusion of UK Bass energy, Trance, Hard Dance, and Bounce, all wrapped in a strong 2000s rave-inspired vibe.
