Last night the Epsilon Tau Chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon inducted eight new lifetime members into the Occupational Therapy National Honor Society! The evening featured a keynote address from Paul Webb, Vice President of MiOTA, plus candles, yellow roses, and certificates for each inductee. So much gratitude to our 3rd year PTE members for all their behind-the-scenes work, to faculty advisor Dr. Jillian Woodworth for helping make it happen, and to the family, friends, and faculty who showed up to cheer everyone on. 🙌 Congratulations to our newest members: Madeline Combs, Jacqueline Frias, Bethany Perry, Maya Pierce, Grace Phillips, Elizabeth Green, Leah Ruddock, and Chloe Ureste. Keep shining, everyone! The occupational therapy world is lucky to have you. 💙💛 #PiThetaEpsilon #UMFlint #OccupationalTherapy #MiOTA

In May, I was incredibly honored to have received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Cultural Humility and Equity Advocacy and the Suzanne Selig Award of Excellence. Thank you to all my OT/PT friends who have supported me emotionally throughout my OT school journey. A HUGE thank you to all my professors for constantly supporting and inspiring me. I especially want to thank Dr. Libby Yost, Dr. Amy Yorke, Dr. Leslie Smith, and Prof. Colwell who consistently inspired me without even trying. They truly embody the kind of clinician I only hope to become! If I can carry even a small fraction of the compassion, knowledge, humility, and dedication they bring to this community, I will consider myself so incredibly fortunate💙 #GoBlue

Last week we had our annual Pie-a-PT/OT fundraiser- we beat our goal of $2,000 and raised over $3,500!! This helps to fund our mission of providing free physical therapy and occupational therapy services to those uninsured and underinsured in the Flint area. THANK YOU to everyone that donated, shared, and participated- we couldn’t do this without you. Here are some highlights from the event- but check out our Facebook page to see all the photos and videos!

Check out what some students learned using CO-OP!🧠💪 In the videos, students Madison, Ben, and Makala put the CO-OP approach into action as they challenged themselves to learn a brand-new skill. Through guided discovery, problem-solving, and self-reflection, they experienced firsthand how CO-OP can empower individuals to achieve meaningful goals. #HEARTClinic #COOP #OccupationalTherapy #PhysicalTherapy #HandsOnLearning

What an incredible weekend in Ann Arbor! 🎉 Our OT and PT students and faculty joined fellow health professional learners for a two-day CO-OP workshop focused on expanding knowledge, building practical skills, and learning from one another. From practicing the CO-OP approach firsthand to engaging in meaningful discussions, the experience was filled with opportunities to grow as future healthcare professionals. We’re excited to bring this knowledge back to HEART and continue supporting our clients through evidence-based, client-centered care! Great job to our very own Dr. Yost for leading, putting this workshop together and continuing to advocate for CO-OP. A special thank you to Erin Iverson, PT, DPT, PCS and Patti Sharp, OTD, OTRL for facilitating this workshop. #HEARTClinic #COOP #OccupationalTherapy #PhysicalTherapy #HandsOnLearning HealthcareEducation
