A weekend full of learning, collaboration, and new perspectives in occupational therapy! 🧠📚

Earlier this month, eight of our second-year OT students attended the MiOTA conference in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

Poster presentations focused on the transition after incarceration, concussion recovery, wearable technology, supporting survivors of domestic violence, AI in OT education, and dementia assessment for individuals with Down syndrome. Each poster highlighted the diverse ways OT can make a meaningful impact!✨

Our students also attended sessions on myofascial manipulation and gained valuable tips for NBCOT exam preparation!

Pink with a purpose! 💗 In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our OTD students showed their support for everyone impacted by breast cancer. We continue to advocate for awareness, early detection, and the role occupational therapy plays in helping individuals maintain independence and participate in meaningful daily activities throughout recovery. We finished the meeting with a little wheelchair racing fun! 🏁

Our first-year OT students brought OT history to life last week in Dr. Woodworth’s class!📚🎉

They traveled through the decades to explore the evolution of occupational therapy - from the Arts & Crafts movement and rehabilitation during World War I to pivotal legislation, influential leaders, and key moments that shaped our profession.🎨✨

To make the experience even more engaging, each group dressed the part and stepped into the history they were learning about.🎭🙌🏻

What a fun and memorable way to explore OT history, connect with the profession’s roots, and celebrate how far our profession has come!💙💛

Last night the Epsilon Tau Chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon inducted eight new lifetime members into the Occupational Therapy National Honor Society! The evening featured a keynote address from Paul Webb, Vice President of MiOTA, plus candles, yellow roses, and certificates for each inductee. So much gratitude to our 3rd year PTE members for all their behind-the-scenes work, to faculty advisor Dr. Jillian Woodworth for helping make it happen, and to the family, friends, and faculty who showed up to cheer everyone on. 🙌

Congratulations to our newest members: Madeline Combs, Jacqueline Frias, Bethany Perry, Maya Pierce, Grace Phillips, Elizabeth Green, Leah Ruddock, and Chloe Ureste. Keep shining, everyone! The occupational therapy world is lucky to have you. 💙💛
