What's better than 1 BFA '29 production? 2 BFA '29 productions! 🎭 Join us the weekend of October 22-25 to witness the dedication from our BFA Acting Class of 2029 with performances of “Picnic” and “Ah, Wilderness!” located in the Rarig Center. A stirring and Pulitzer-winning drama, “Picnic” takes place in the joint backyards of two widows during the Labor Day holiday in a small Kansas town in the 1950s, where the appearance of a handsome outsider upends their life. “Picnic” Performances: Thursday October 22, 2026 7:30pm Saturday October 24, 2026 7:30pm Sunday October 25, 2026 2:00pm ______________________________________________ Revived in 1998 to acclaim at New York's Lincoln Center, "Ah, Wilderness!" is a sharp departure from the gritty reality of the author's renowned dramas. Taking place over the July 4th weekend of 1906 in an idyllic Connecticut town, it offers a tender, retrospective portrait of small town family values, teenage growing pains, and young love. "Ah, Wilderness!" Performances: Friday October 23, 2026 7:30pm Saturday October 24, 2026 2:00pm Sunday October 25, 2026 7:30pm Both events are free with registration. “How does what we know about the history of Reform Jewish women and abortion rights transform when shared through theatre?” Over two years ago I embarked on a mission to search for Jewish women’s social action work in repealing criminal abortion laws. What began as multiple trips to the University of Minnesota Upper Midwest Jewish Archives for a class capstone transformed into an interdisciplinary research thesis project culminating with a performance of my original play “L’Chaim (To Life)” based on my studies. “I realized that by combining my areas of study, acting and history, I can more closely investigate how identity influences choice which often results in documentable change.” I am thankful for the opportunity to have shared my experience in an article with the University of Minnesota Department of History that is linked in my bio. Extending appreciation for their support throughout this process to Prof. Barbara Welke, Prof. Lucinda Holshue, Prof. Joe Krienke, the cast/crew of “L’Chaim (To Life)” (Anastasia Brown, Jasmine Harrick, Maya Pantanowitz, Elisheva Scheuer, Siena Stark), the Hendley Donovan Scholarship, and to the University of Minnesota Department of History and Department of Theatre Arts & Dance.

A round of applause for Cooper Lajeunesse, the director of “Welcome to Thebes” and BFA ‘21 Alumn, for all his amazing effort👏. “Welcome to Thebes” marks Lajeunesse’s first directional mainstage production with UMN since graduating from this program in 2021, with work experience from The Guthrie Theater, Jungle Theater, The Playwrights Center, Park Square Theater, Artistry Theater, The Gray Mallard Theater Company, and Full Circle Theater Company. Their previous directing credits include "A Lie of the Mind" with Lucinda Holshue, "Bakkhai" with Ben Lohrberg, and "Stupid Fucking Bird" with Bruce Roach. The great proportions of “Welcome to Thebes” parallel our time, all too much. The people of Thebes overturn the old rule of Kings, entrusting the first presidency in their new Democracy to a woman named Eurydice. She faces overwhelming trials in rebuilding the country: haunted by violence, facing internal factions, and securing the complicated promise of foreign aid from Athens. Power and greed and the curses of forefathers make peace a difficult task. Want to know more about the production and ticket details? Building something new—something really special —isn’t easy. The hardest part is just getting the word out to folks who've been waiting for something like this. Building momentum. Growing a community. You don’t do that alone. When @lucia_stuessi at @wehmannagency heard what I was building, she reached out to me and offered to help—just to support and get the word out. That kind of generosity matters. It's Authentic. Wehmann is a team that genuinely shows up for their actors—across print, on-camera, voice, hair, and makeup—and we're grateful to be in their corner. This whole thing is built with one goal in mind: to give Minnesota actors a real step forward— with the experience, the work, and the footage to compete for what’s coming here. For the final 4 Lab spots available, I’ve set aside a special discount code for all Wehmann represented actors. Use code: WEHMANN50 ($50 value) Code Valid through April 18. 👇 InTheLab.org On-Camera Acting Workshops Professionally Filmed & Edited Scenework

This cast has as many paths to the Upside Down as Vecna’s tentacles. MFA programs. BFA conservatories. State schools. Newer programs. No degree at all. Some of these actors came up through traditional pipelines. Others didn’t. Some were working professionally as teenagers. Others built their careers slowly, credit by credit, over time. If you’re starting the college audition process right now, it can feel like everything depends on getting into the “right” program. But here’s the bigger picture: there is no “right” program. Only the one that’s right for you. Casting is asking: are you right for the role, and can you do the job? Being right for the role isn’t really in your control. Being able to do the job is. That’s where your training comes in. This is your reminder that the industry doesn’t move in a straight line. It moves through people who keep showing up. #strangerthingsthefirstshadow #collegeauditions #bfamusicaltheatre #strangerthingsfandom #theatrekids
