What if a stitch could hold the memory of the cosmos?

Hymn of Emergence takes the vessel as its starting point - one of humanity’s earliest repositories of memory, ritual and transformation.

Stacked earthen forms rise into something resembling a shrine, a spine, a living body in the making. Across its surface, thousands of stitches accumulate like scars, cellular growth and constellations - each a small act of devotion, each adding to the whole.

An exploration of embroidery as an act of cosmological repair, where matter, memory and consciousness take shape through repetition and time. Between exposed surfaces and dense interventions, the sculpture holds the fragile, ever-evolving nature of existence.

Palak found Bijli at our first ever gathering and their vibrant energies instantly called out to each other. For us at hold, its a special joy when a saree meets their person.

Bijli is a handloom saree from Tamil Nadu with electric combination of green and pink that has dazzled many for years, before being hidden carefully, saved for some day. We are grateful to Palak for giving Bijli a second chance at life - not preserved behind cupboard doors, but worn, styled, lived in, and loved again.

What we cherish most is not just the saree itself, but the way each person brings their own story to it. The drape changes. The context changes. The wearer changes. Yet the craft continues to live on.

It was our first gathering, strangers together for the love of sarees. But as the evening progressed, we shared our memories, love, joys and sometimes pains. By the end of the evening, we had become a tribe of people who had been friends for eons, and shared so many laughters and smiles. Thank you everyone for being part of this gathering. May our tribe grow without boundaries.

Full of unexpected turns, challenges, and growth that shaped us in ways we never imagined.
Every studio, mentor, peer, and friendship left a mark.

A journey of learning, unlearning, and evolving, one that leaves its imprint on everyone it touches.

Grateful for the experiences, the exposure, my family for their constant support, and friends who made every moment worthwhile.

Between the new moon of the longest night and the full moon of the new year.

We took time to rest, to listen back, to let the experience settle into the body and the land. What we built needed silence after sound, stillness after gathering.

Amdavad Winter Soulstitch was not meant to end in a single evening. It lingers in soil touched, songs shared, skies looked up to together.

These are just the first glimpses.

We will be sharing much more of the quiet magic, the people, and the systems that made this prototype possible very soon.

As one grows older, one realises that one does not come across free souls very often. They are rare. They are busy living their lives on their own terms. They love intensely and they suffer deeply. Palak is one such free soul whose love for the world is contagious. I connected with her online randomly and we became very good friends in no time. My friends Dushyant and Riya who are Amdavadis had been inviting me to visit them for quite sometime. Palak also happened to be from there so I thought ‘why not?’ I was always intrigued by how Gujaratis are still so connected to their roots. I finally made the trip to Ahmedabad and this girl made an entire list of places that she wanted me to see in her town. Everyday she would write the plan on a paper and take me there and show me these tiny worlds of hers through her eyes. I was in awe of how much passion one can have for life (and art). We had endless conversations about design in everyday life, food, spirituality, small towns, politics and what not. The list is endless. We both were surprised by how we never ran out of things to talk about. It was beautiful and I am so grateful that I get to meet such beautiful people in this lifetime. People inspire me. If not for them, I am nothing.
