The world has a 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals.

Women's political representation is moving so slowly that parliamentary parity (equal representation in government) is projected to take another 63 years.

Who is accountable for the difference? How can you help speed shit up?

You got another 63 years??

Happy Children and Nature Week! 🌳

Created by the Pima Connecting Children to Nature Coalition, the Children’s Outdoor Rights provide equitable access to nature and connection to our unique Sonoran Desert Ecosystem.

Multiple City of Tucson departments steward and provide access to outdoor spaces, support environmental education, childhood programs, and youth workforce development including the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department, Tucson’s Storm to Shade program, and Tucson Water.

It’s essential to recognize that equitable access to nature and outdoor spaces for children is paramount in fostering healthy communities and improving quality of life. 💚

Eller Make a Difference Day 2026 🤍

Last Friday, SMA members got experience helping out the Tucson community by visiting ACE Charter High School to help the students and staff with some door refurbishments! 🎨🚪

Thank you to @unitedwayaz and @uarizonaellerugrad for setting up this amazing event every year, and SMA is proud to be a continuous participant in helping give back to the community! 🐻⬇️

The proclamation declared that all children and their families should have the right “to connect with nature, observe wildlife, play outside, breathe clean air, experience dark skies, and care for the Sonoran Desert.”

The Pima County Conservation Lands & Resources (CLR) is one of several County departments that help provide access to outdoor spaces and support environmental education for young people, along with the Regional Flood Control District, Parks and Recreation, Environmental Quality, Health, and the Public Library.

The proclamation was sponsored by the Pima Connecting Children to Nature Coalition, a group of community organizations committed to the importance of children’s equitable access to nature, the benefits of nature-based learning and experiences, and the need to cultivate love for the Sonoran Desert. Partners include the County, the City of Tucson, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, the Children’s Museum Tucson, Tucson Clean & Beautiful, and Prescott College Center for Nature & Place, among many others.

The coalition is marking the occasion by promoting several activities throughout the week, all of which support the goal of helping children and their families connect with nature.
