We’re proud to sponsor Sheriff Amir D. Jones’ Back-to-School Community Day! 📚🎒❤️

Little Box of Love, through our Unity Table initiative, is honored to support this wonderful community event, taking place August 31st from 5–10 PM at Monte Irvin Park in Orange, NJ.

100% of the donations collected through our Back-to-School Supply Drive are going toward supporting this initiative and helping provide school supplies for local children and families.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our drive, and helped us give back. We’re excited to join Sheriff Amir D. Jones, our community partners, and families from across the area for a day of fun, resources, connection, and giving.

Together, we’re helping students start the school year ready to succeed. 💙📓✏️

As Sheriff, I know that service is more than a title, it’s a decision to keep showing up for people. Our teachers and first responders make that decision every day, and I’m honored to join Unity Table for an evening celebrating all they contribute to Essex County.

The evening will also support the Essex County Sheriff’s Office Second Annual Back-to-School Community Day through a school-supply drive. Every contribution will help a student begin the year prepared, confident and able to focus on what matters most: learning, growing and seeing what’s possible for their future.

Register or donate using the QR codes on the flyer.

Quiet work. Lasting impact.

Congratulations to Naseed Gifted and his extraordinary team, for leading the quiet rise of Afrofuturist artistry in Newark and investing in the next generation of Black and Brown creators.

Over the last 10 days, these young creatives showed up with imagination, discipline, and vision—developing original characters using Nomad, Scoped, Procreate, and Blender. They weren’t just learning software; they were building worlds and creating intellectual property.

Afrofuturist animation is more than art. It’s a way to preserve our history, own our stories, and participate in a multibillion-dollar industry where ownership creates wealth, opportunity, and lasting legacies. Diverse talent isn’t just good for culture—it builds businesses, creates generational wealth, and leaves a legacy.

As Hollywood continues expanding on the East Coast, I hope it’s paying attention. Newark’s creative talent is like gold beneath the surface—it has always been here. It simply takes vision to uncover it.

This is how Newark wins: by developing creators who don’t just shape the future—they own it.

A special thank you to Express Newark for providing a beautiful space where creatives can dream boldly, collaborate freely, and do their best work.

Naseed is also the founder of KhemFest, New Jersey’s only Black animation and comic book festival. His mission is to use comic books, animation, gaming, and popular culture to develop youth literacy and creative expression through S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

Join us at KhemFest on Saturday, September 26, at Express Newark and experience the artists, stories, and innovation shaping Newark’s creative future.
