POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This weekend, students from across the country came together in Washington, D.C. for the DC Student Organizing Bootcamp to learn and build the skills needed to organize for stronger campuses and a stronger democracy.

We heard from inspiring leaders including Rep. Jamie Raskin, Mohsen Mahdawi, Barbara Arnwine, Robert Weissman, and organizers who are leading impactful campaigns on campuses nationwide.

Thanks to everyone for coming out! This weekend proved that the future of our democracy is stronger when students come together to organize.

The Koch fortune originates with Fred C. Koch who constructed oil refineries for the Soviet Union. His sons Charles and David expanded the business, growing it into one of the largest privately held companies in U.S. History.

The brothers have funneled billions of dollars into political causes. Here is how the money is used / routed out:

One of the Kochs’ key advocacy groups is Americans for Prosperity (AFP). It was founded by the Kochs and remains a central vehicle for their policy and political agenda.

In 2024, AFP’s super PAC arm (Americans for Prosperity Action) spent more than US$157 million to influence voters in federal elections.

Their spending is strongly aligned with extending tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation, privatization of public services, and reducing the size or reach of government safety-net programs.

One of the smaller but strategically important groups in this ecosystem is Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA), a Florida-based policy think tank that has explicitly targeted public benefit programs—including the food‐assistance program Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—for restrictions and reform.

For example: in 2025 at least 14 states considered bills to restrict what SNAP recipients can purchase, often based on FGA’s model. These restrictions impose additional barriers or eligibility work requirements that can cut off food access for vulnerable people.

The policy logic is: by dialing back public benefit access (like food assistance, Medicaid, welfare), the argument goes that more people will “be free” to market participation / self-sufficiency. Critics argue the effect is increased food insecurity and hardship.

The Koch brothers were warned and they ignored it. Two Texas teens were killed when a Koch industries pipeline exploded. The company had been told about corrosion for years, but they did nothing.

The jury called it “reckless disregard for human life.”

The brothers neglected because they didn’t want to pay to make their pipeline safe.

We’re rolling out a new membership model, and if you’re looking for a political home, this might be it. Our first new member orientation is happening March 26th, from 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM ET.

This is for everyday people—parents, caregivers, educators, students, and community members—who are committed to resisting unnecessary struggle, defending one another during crisis, and building alternative solutions.

We’re looking for new leaders to form pods and chapters in their communities. You don’t need to be experienced or have all the answers—just high integrity, follow-through, an open heart, and the motivation to learn.

If this resonates with you, join us on March 26th at 7:30 PM ET for our first New Member Orientation and find out how to plug in.🔗in bio

For years, we’ve been sounding the alarm on how institutions—whether schools, police, or nonprofits—use progressive language to mask their role in upholding oppression. Now, a coalition of educators, organizers, and students is demanding that schools drop the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) from education programs, citing its deep ties to Zionism, surveillance, and policing of social movements.

We at Parenting Is Political, Generation Common Good, and the other organizations we lead have been core supporters of this campaign, standing firm in the belief that education should be a site of liberation, not a tool for repression. This is not our first time taking action. In the original Drop The ADL campaign, I personally gave up a prestigious fellowship in solidarity with Palestine and in rejection of the ADL’s harmful role in our communities.

Now, we continue that fight. Parents, students, and educators deserve safety, truth, and education that does not come at the cost of Palestinian lives or the repression of movements for justice. We refuse to let our children’s education be shaped by an organization that collaborates with police, smears Black and Palestinian organizers, and upholds white supremacy under the guise of “anti-hate” work.

The ADL has no place in our schools. We demand educational institutions cut ties NOW.
