If you’re new here, hiiii 👋🏾 I’m Xiomara—and apparently, I’ve never properly introduced myself. I’m an Oakland-based entrepreneur, marketing consultant, and the co-founder of UnoEth— an ethically made accessories brand I started with my Pops over 11 years ago. We work with our artisan partners in Ethiopia (and beyond!) to create leather goods, accessories, home goods + more. Outside of that, I’m usually somewhere between running a business, helping other founders grow theirs, lifting something heavy at the gym, traveling, hanging with my people, or sharing my very unsolicited thoughts about life in my late 30s. Life lately: a little bit of everything and somehow exactly what I needed. Working. Building. Going out. Staying in. Letting my friends love on me. Buying myself flowers. Having the cocktail. Carrying the bag I helped build. Romanticizing the mundane. Figuring some things out and intentionally leaving a few things unanswered. I think I’m learning that a full life doesn’t always have to mean a busy one and growth doesn’t always have to look like grinding. Sometimes it looks like laughing too hard with your people, putting on the outfit, noticing the flowers, making room for joy and realizing… wait. I actually really like this life I’m creating. Anyway, camera roll says we’ve been outside. 😂✨

Being able to attend @shoppeobject this time around on my own dime was a big deal! A huge investment for my business and one that is paying off and eventually allowing my business to be 80% BUSINESS to BUSINESS ( B2B) and 20% BUSINESS to Consumer ( B2C) . I’ve been on this roller coaster of an entrepreneurship journey since 2011 and I’m so proud of myself for sticking it out and finally landing on a business model that works best for me. Giving me more time with my daughter and for myself. Entrepreneurship is not for the weak… but with hard work , motivation and endurance, you can make it what you want to be. I’m honored to have participated in my 3rd Shoppe Object and I’m so excited about the new retailers who will be carrying Candid Art jewelry in addition to my existing customers who extended their collection of Candid Art and placed larger orders . How exhilarating to be surrounded these past few days by people (many of them women!) with real creative convictions and talent and their beautiful small batch art/treasures! I’m so inspired! And vow to make the coolest sh*t I can from here on out! Thanks for having me @shoppeobject - what gorgeous curation and peers. One of those moments that doesn’t quite feel real… This week, UnoEth is exhibiting at our very first wholesale trade show: Shoppe Object in New York. 🤍 After 11 years of building this brand alongside artisans in Ethiopia, being here feels incredibly special. The past few days have been a whirlwind of setup, problem-solving, long hours, and very little sleep—but we’re having the best time. We’re so grateful to @shoppeobject for creating a space that celebrates independent brands and the people behind them. More behind-the-scenes, booth setup, and trade show moments coming soon.
