EVERYONE TELLS ME HOW MUCH I LOOK LIKE YOU: Closing Event, Friday September 25th, 6-8pm @anca_inc Gallery

It has been a real honour to curate this exhibtion and share creative spaces with some of the most wonderful people I've ever met. I'll do a really emotional post after we close but I thought I'd just share these really beautiful photos by @saltyjugs
and talk about my works 💞🤙

My works: Mariclaire (digital media, 2024) & Everyone used to tell me how much I looked like you, I didn’t always see it but now it’s all I notice (touch capacitor sound/sculpture installation, 2026) both explore my interest in un-archiving personal histories and centering the stories and images of key women in my life. Both works reimagine recordings of conversations with myself, my mother, and Nonna into soundscapes that show my relationship to these women and how meaning is abstracted through my own imagining of them and their words. These works are personal invitations to an audience to act as a permissed intruder upon intimate moments.

As always, so much love for everyone involved, nothing occurs insolation. It's been a really beautiful journey thanks to so many people 💕

Live Performance Piece
Genie Stuart
’10 speakers, merging, forever,’
Saturday 29 August 2026, 5 ~ 7pm

Register Interest via link in bio

Genie Stuart (@genie_beanie_in_the_washing_m) is a producer and performer from Ngunnawal/Ngunawal/Ngambri Country. This live, durational performance takes [Lucy] Chetcuti’s (@untitled.attempts) utopian paintings as a departure point for exploring how sound might construct a utopia within shared space. Found speakers and radios positioned throughout the space invite audiences to move through and within the work at their own pace. Woven through the work are frequencies — 174 Hz, 528 Hz, 432 Hz — each purportedly associated with somatic and restorative effects. Stuart uses live electronics and oboe to rehearse, through sound, an embodied utopia.

This performance is in collaboration with Lucy Chetcuti’s exhibition ‘Thought forms from the queer utopia imaginarium’

The event takes place during the opening night of the Sydney Fringe Festival.
