For people facing breast cancer, having options can make a meaningful difference. Dr. Alvin Kwok, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, wants patients and their loved ones to know they do not have to face those questions alone. Today, people with breast cancer have more treatment and reconstruction options than ever before. While reconstruction looks different for every person, it can help restore confidence, quality of life, and a sense of normalcy after treatment. In his Letter of Hope, Dr. Kwok shares a message of reassurance for patients and families: our team is here to listen, help patients understand their options, and provide compassionate care throughout the process. Read his full letter through the link in our bio. A professional headshot of Alvin C. Kwok, MD, MPH, is set against a blue background. The text reads: "LETTER OF HOPE. As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I enjoy seeing how our efforts bring women a greater sense of normalcy, 'wholeness,' and self-confidence." At the bottom, it states Alvin C. Kwok, MD, MPH, Breast Reconstruction Plastic Surgery, Huntsman Cancer Institute.

When cancer has spread to the abdomen, having more treatment options can make a meaningful difference. HIPEC and PIPAC are two innovative ways to deliver chemotherapy directly into the abdomen. HIPEC combines surgery with heated chemotherapy, while PIPAC uses a minimally invasive procedure to deliver chemotherapy as a pressurized aerosol. Each is used in different situations, based on a person’s cancer and treatment needs. We are proud to be one of only a few hospitals in the country to offer both treatments, giving patients and their care teams more options to consider when standard treatments may not be enough. For Lisa Chapman, PA-C, caring for people with cancer is more than a career. It’s deeply personal. After losing both her mother and a close friend to cancer, Lisa knows how much fear, heartache, and uncertainty a diagnosis can bring. Today, as a physician assistant in urologic surgical oncology, she draws on those experiences to help patients and families feel supported through some of life’s most private and difficult moments. During National Advanced Practice Provider Week, we’re celebrating Lisa and all the APPs whose expertise, compassion, and dedication make a difference for patients and families every day. In her Letter of Hope, Lisa thanks patients for trusting their care teams with their fears, vulnerabilities, and stories—and reminds us that cancer care is built not only on medical expertise, but also on compassion, dignity, and human connection. Read her letter through the link in our bio. Blue “Letter of Hope” graphic featuring a circular portrait of Lisa S. Chapman, PA-C, smiling in a white coat. Text reads: “Thank you for your trust. By combining compassionate care with leading-edge research and surgical innovation, Dr. Hewitt and her colleagues are helping ensure each patient receives care tailored to their individual needs.
