Thrive Outside Day 2026! 🌿 Thanks to everyone who stopped by the @tgfarmersmarket to pick up a free life jacket or bike helmet, get up close with native animals from @upriseconservation, hop in a canoe, and learn more about getting outside in our community. Thanks for making it a great day!

WAIT… is this seriously why they call it duckweed?!

SubhanAllah, there’s always something new to learn from Allah’s creation.

Thank you @upriseconservation @foxxy_dream @rcoutdoorsstl for the Guided Nature Walk with Troop 179 in St. Louis!

Be honest… did you already know why they call it duckweed? 👀

#RiverGirl got back on the river. Felt good to paddle #TheConfluence. It’s always amazing to see two different waters blending to one.
I think my sunscreen was expired tho… #crispyshoulders
Thanks @paddlestl and @cgeden and @roostl

💚 What a day. What a community. What a beginning. Alhamdililah (Thank God).

Yesterday, families gathered for the very first Salam Day in Saint Louis, and we are still soaking it all in.

From guided nature walks and bee encounters to reptiles, service projects, outdoor adventures, community partner organizations, and countless smiles, Salam Day became everything we hoped it would be: a place where families could connect, learn, serve, and serve together.

To every volunteer, sponsor, vendor, organization, donor, troop leader, scout, parent, and attendee: thank you. This event was built by a community that believes in creating spaces where our Muslim youth can grow with confidence, curiosity, and compassion.

This was our first Salam Day, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our booth sponsors, financial sponsors, volunteers, and families who made it possible.

A special thanks to @fighousemedia for capturing this video, and a VERY special thank you to @muextensionstl for leading the educational nature walk.

Until next time... thank you for making history with us.

“We learn best with our feet on the ground and our hands in the soil.”

These words from Hafiz Musa Jitmoud reflect the heart behind the growing Salam Scouts Outdoor Program.

In partnership with Matt Fox and @upriseconservation this program is being thoughtfully built to blend outdoor education, environmental stewardship, Islamic teachings, and the Sunnah into meaningful experiences for our youth. 🌿

At Salam Scouts, we believe the outdoors are one of the greatest classrooms Allah has created. Through nature, scouts will learn confidence, responsibility, reflection, and their role as caretakers of the earth.

Meet Suri.
Our black throat monitor who knows exactly when it’s feeding time… because she’s trained to follow the color blue

💙One thing we’re really proud of is our staff.

A lot of time, patience, and effort goes into working with these animals every day. Building trust, learning behaviors, cleaning, feeding, training… it all adds up.

Suri being trained to follow blue didn’t just magically happen. It took consistency and a team that truly cares about these animals and their wellbeing. We’re lucky to have people who put that kind of effort in every single day.

Tales of #AYearByTheArch
April is going by fast and I can barely catch up with social media activity and posting. I found myself more focusing on living the present moment outside in great company than hiding behind my phone scrolling mindlessly! Earlier today, Neide and I explored @stlouisearthday festival in Forest Park! We got the opportunity to be creative - building flowers crowns out of recycled kids painting and block print with @themagichouse , roam around the Muny grounds, meet two alpacas 🦙, see beautiful rescue chicken 🐓 enjoying freedom and sunlight in a stroller thanks to the wonderful work of 2nd.hend, meet @upriseconservation resident biologist @foxxy_dream who introduced us to a Yellow Spotted Salamander while his partner introduced us to a beautiful snake (I sadly can’t remember the specie) named Peanut Butter. The festival continues tomorrow and trust me, you do not want to miss it!

We’re thrilled to be featured in @terrain_magazine ✨

Thank you to the team at Terrain for highlighting Salam Scouts and the journey we’re on — from our St. Louis beginnings to becoming a growing outdoor community focused on service, stewardship, and empowering compassionate young leaders. 🧭

This feature comes at an exciting time for us.

This spring, we’re hoping to launch our full outdoor program, complete with leader training, new badges, and a comprehensive handbook. We’re excited to announce that we have been collaborating with biologist and survivalist Matt Fox from @upriseconservation and we’re so excited for what’s ahead. 🌿

If you believe in our mission and want to help us grow, please consider making a contribution. Your support directly strengthens our curriculum and leader resources!
