Urban Canvas: From the Underground Up 🎬
A documentary on graffiti as modern hieroglyphics—identity, resilience & cultural memory.
NYC + beyond.

WU WEDNESDAY | THE CULTURE LIVES THROUGH US 👐🏽🎨🎬

Hip-hop.
Graffiti.
Art.
Expression.
Culture.

Different forms of creativity, connected by something much deeper.

The need to express ourselves.

For this Wu Wednesday, we're highlighting Anthony Sturmas, an artist whose creativity and perspective are part of our Urban Canvas: From The Underground Up journey.

One thing I've come to appreciate about hip-hop culture is that it has never been limited to music.

It's visual.
It's lyrical.
It's movement.
It's identity.
It's community.

And for generations, graffiti artists have helped shape that identity, transforming walls, trains, and public spaces into places of artistic expression.

Sometimes celebrated.
Sometimes misunderstood.
But never without a voice.

Throughout this documentary journey, I've had the privilege of spending time with artists who remind me that culture isn't something we simply observe.

It's something people live.

Something they build.
Something they preserve.
Something they pass forward.

And behind every creative expression is a human being with experiences, influences, and stories that deserve to be understood.

That's what continues to inspire me about this project.

Not simply documenting the art.

Documenting the humanity behind it.

Much respect to @anthony_sturmas and everyone who continues contributing to the culture in their own way.

The culture doesn't stand still.

It evolves through the people who live it.

Wu Wednesday. 👐🏽

THOUGHTFUL TUESDAY | THE MOMENTS BETWEEN THE MOMENTS 🎨🎬

October 20, 2026

Going through the Urban Canvas: From The Underground Up archives, I find myself reflecting on just how much this journey has given us.

The photographs.
The footage.
The events.
The conversations.
The laughter.
The memories.
And the people we've had the privilege of meeting along the way.

Some moments were planned. Others happened when we least expected them.

And sometimes, those unexpected moments become the most meaningful.

When we started this documentary, we knew we wanted to tell a story about graffiti culture, its history, and the artists who helped shape it.

But somewhere along the way, the journey became about something much deeper.

The humanity behind the art.

The relationships.
The sacrifices.
The lessons passed between generations.
The trust that takes time to build.
And the stories that deserve to be heard.

I've come to appreciate that not every meaningful moment needs to make the final cut of a documentary to have value.

Some moments are simply meant to be experienced, remembered, and appreciated.

We're still learning. Still listening. Still building.

And while we still have plenty of work ahead, today I'm taking a moment to appreciate how far we've come, and everyone who has opened a door, shared a story, or simply let us into their world.

Because access is trust, and trust comes with responsibility.

Sometimes the greatest part of the journey isn't what we capture with the camera. It's what we carry with us long after we put it down.

Much love and gratitude to everyone who continues to be part of this journey. 🙏🏽❤️

#FBF | YESTERDAY'S PRICE IS NOT TODAY'S PRICE. 🎬🚁

"Yesterday's price is not today's price."

Fat Joe said it. Pusha T brought it into "Diet Coke." And today, those words carry a different meaning.

Another Friday. Another journey through the archives.

Drone flights.
Behind-the-scenes moments.
Film productions.
Community events.
Different places. Different people. Different experiences.

Every moment contributed something.

A lesson.
A relationship.
A new perspective.
An opportunity to grow.

The equipment has evolved.
The storytelling has evolved.
The opportunities have evolved.
And so have I.

But the foundation remains the same.

Gratitude. Intention. Purpose. Consistency.

Yesterday's price isn't just about money.

It's about experience earned, lessons learned, relationships built, and the value of showing up when nobody was watching.

Still learning.
Still building.
Still evolving.

Because growth isn't about forgetting where you started. It's about honoring the journey while raising the standard.

And the work continues. 🎥

#FBF | FROM THE FRIENDLY SKIES — AUSTIN, TX 🚁

Taking another trip through the archives.

This time, Austin, Texas.
Circa 2023.

Skateboards.
BMX bikes.
Scooters.
Graffiti.
And a whole lot of movement.

Just a few overhead drone shots from the skate park, watching people do what they love.

Different ages.
Different styles.
Different levels of experience.

But all sharing the same space.

There's something special about places like these.

They bring people together through creativity, movement, practice, and a shared appreciation for the culture.

From above, you see it all come together from a different perspective.

No interviews.
No elaborate production.
Just people, their passions, and a camera capturing a moment.

Another place.
Another experience.
Another memory from the archives.

🎬 THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS | 30 DAYS TO KAOS DAY 🔥

More than music.
More than entertainment.
More than an artist behind a microphone.

This is TOTAL KAOS.

With KAOS DAY just one month away, we're taking a journey through the music, visuals, messages, and creative expressions that have helped define his work.

And we're starting with something that carries a powerful message.

"Something Ain't Right."

A song and visual project inspired by the tragic death of Kendrick Johnson in Valdosta, Georgia.

Rather than simply telling the story from a distance, Total Kaos and his team traveled to Georgia to help bring awareness to the case and the questions surrounding Kendrick's death.

Sometimes an artist's responsibility extends beyond creating music.

Sometimes it's about standing for something.

Using your voice.
Using your platform.
Using your creativity to bring attention to stories that deserve to be heard.

But that's only one dimension of Total Kaos.

Over the coming weeks, we'll share excerpts from different projects, highlighting the music, visuals, messages, and creative journey.

Different sounds.
Different stories.
Different expressions.

One artist. One voice. One purpose.

And perhaps that's what makes art so powerful.

It's not always about the music itself, but the human being behind it, the experiences that shape it, and the messages that continue long after the music stops.

This is just the beginning.

🗓️ KAOS DAY IS COMING.

Stay tuned. There's more to the story.

WU WEDNESDAY | THE STORIES THAT REMAIN 👐🏽🎬

Taking another journey through the archives.

This time, back to the Mississippi Delta. June 2025.

A band performing during a Juneteenth celebration.

The water tower in Ruleville, Mississippi.

The clock tower in Sumner.

Different places.
Different moments.
Different stories.

Yet something connects them.

History.

Community.

Culture.

And the people who continue to carry these stories forward.

One thing I've learned over years of documenting the Mississippi Delta is that history isn't just something we read about.

It's something we encounter.

In the places we visit.
In the music we hear.
In the conversations we share.
And in the communities that continue to preserve their identities across generations.

The Delta has taught me to look beyond what is immediately visible.

To listen before speaking.

To understand before interpreting.

And to recognize that every place has a story worth preserving.

For today's Wu Wednesday, I'm pairing these moments with Wu-Tang Clan's “A Better Tomorrow.”

Different generations. Different musical traditions. But a reminder that the past, present, and future are connected through the stories we choose to carry forward.

Because remembering where we've been is part of understanding where we hope to go.

And perhaps that's where a better tomorrow begins.

Peace, love, and respect to the people and communities of the Mississippi Delta. 🙏🏽

THOUGHTFUL TUESDAY | FINDING STILLNESS IN THE SUNRISE 🌅🙏🏽

This morning, I took a little time for myself.

No cameras rolling.
No deadlines to chase.
No expectations to meet.

Just the sunrise, a quiet moment of meditation, and an opportunity to be present.

Sometimes, we're so focused on everything we need to accomplish that we forget to appreciate the simple blessing of another day.

Another opportunity to learn.
Another opportunity to grow.
Another opportunity to simply be.

Watching the sun rise reminded me that not everything in life requires an immediate response, a solution, or a plan.

Sometimes, we just need to be still.

To listen.
To reflect.
To give ourselves a little grace.

The work will still be there. The responsibilities aren't going anywhere. And the journey continues.

But this morning, for a few moments, I chose stillness over movement.

And I'm grateful I did.

Gratitude. Intention. Purpose. Consistency.

One sunrise. One breath. One day at a time.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and purposeful Thoughtful Tuesday.

MINDFUL MONDAY | BEYOND THE ART 🎨🎬

Taking another journey through the Urban Canvas: From The Underground Up archives.

This time, back to Fatcap, August 1, 2026.

TSK — Bran, Komer, Chelo.
MTA — REE.
FRITOS.
SEN-1.
FrankieBotz.
Lou Sizzle.

Different artists.
Different generations.
Different journeys.

But behind every piece of art is something we don't always get to see.

The preparation.
The process.
The conversations.
The patience.
The people.

We often celebrate the finished work without thinking about everything that went into creating it.

The years of dedication.
The experiences that shaped the artist.
The relationships built along the way.
And the human being holding that can of paint.

One thing I've come to appreciate throughout this documentary journey is that the story isn't always on the wall.

Sometimes it's in the moments between.

The laughter.
The concentration.
The exchange of ideas.
The quiet moments when someone is simply doing what they love.

That's why I keep documenting these experiences.

Not just to preserve the art, but to better understand the people, the culture, and the stories that exist beyond what we see.

The art may capture our attention, but it's the humanity behind it that gives the story meaning.

Much love and respect to everyone who continues to allow us into their world.

Access is trust. And trust comes with responsibility.

Peace, love, and blessings for the week ahead. 🙏🏽

MINDFUL MONDAY | FINDING OUR OWN RHYTHM 🥁🌱🚁

Sometimes, all it takes is a different perspective to appreciate the beauty of connection.

Taking another trip through my aerial archives, this time above the Village Green in Woodstock, NY.

For 27 years, the Woodstock Drum Circle has brought people together through music, rhythm, and community.

Different people.
Different backgrounds.
Different journeys.

Yet somehow, they find a common rhythm.

And isn't that a beautiful reminder for life?

We don't all move at the same pace.
We don't all follow the same path.
And we certainly don't have everything figured out.

But there's something powerful about showing up, staying consistent, and making room for others along the way.

As the drone rises, the perspective changes. What begins as individuals gathered in one place becomes something much bigger.

Community. Connection. Harmony.

Find your rhythm.
Respect someone else's.
And keep moving with intention.

Peace, love, and blessings for the week ahead. 🙏🏽

#FBF | FROM THE FRIENDLY SKIES — YONKERS, NY 🚁

Taking another trip through the archives.

This time, we're flying over Yonkers, New York.

The water tower.
The Hudson River.
The neighborhoods.
And a few familiar landmarks from a different perspective.

Seeing a place from above gives you a different appreciation for what's happening below.

Every neighborhood has its own history.
Every street has its own stories.
And every community has its own identity.

Yonkers is no exception.

A city with character, culture, and a hip-hop legacy that reaches far beyond its borders.

Just another flight.
Another perspective.
Another moment worth revisiting.

#TBT | DIFFERENT WALLS. SAME LOVE. 🎨🎥

Going through the archives again, pulling together a few moments from the different graffiti events we've had the opportunity to document.

Different locations.
Different artists.
Different generations.
Same love for the culture.

One thing I've come to appreciate throughout this journey is that the art is only part of the story.

It's the conversations between artists.
The friendships.
The laughter.
The exchange of knowledge.
The hours of dedication that go into creating something meaningful.

And sometimes, it's simply being there, watching people do what they love.

I've learned so much from the people who have welcomed us into their spaces, shared their experiences, and trusted us to document their world.

These aren't just clips from past events.

They're moments in time, pieces of history, and reminders of why we started this journey.

Much love and respect to every artist, organizer, and community member who keeps this culture alive.

We're still learning.
Still documenting.
Still building relationships.

And there's so much more to come.

ROAD TRIP 2018. 🚙💨

New Mexico.
Arizona.
California.

The last few states of a cross-country road trip I still think about all these years later.

There was something about being out there on the road.

Watching the landscape change through the windshield.
Stopping wherever curiosity took us.
Seeing places I had only known from pictures, movies, or a map.

No rush to get to the next accomplishment.

Just miles.

Conversations.

Music.

Pictures.

Video.

And memories being made before we even realized how much they would eventually mean.

Looking at this footage eight years later hits differently.

Life has changed.

I've changed.

But for a moment, I can go right back there—to those long stretches of highway, the desert, the mountains, and that feeling of seeing another part of this country for the first time.

New Mexico ➡️ Arizona ➡️ California.

Road Trip 2018.

Some journeys stay with you long after you get home. ❤️
