We collect delicious, fresh food before it can go to waste. And we get it to people who need it. Pure and simple.

In my humble opinion, Portland’s restaurant community is one of the best. Not only do these people create incredible food and drink, but they also give so much back to the community. ❤️

One great example is 20 TASTES, happening throughout October to celebrate 20 years of @urbangleanerspdx providing free food to the Portland community. Participating restaurants are donating a dollar amount for every featured dish or drink sold to support this wonderful organization.

My friend Jen @salaciousbites serves on the board of directors, and I volunteer on their events committee, so this cause is especially close to our hearts. We stopped by @oxpdx to try their featured cocktail, A Figure of Speech, made with bourbon, Braulio, sweet vermouth, fig leaf and orange. Cocktail and dinner were perfection! 😘👌

Even if you don’t complete the 20 Tastes passport, every featured dish or drink you order helps support Urban Gleaners and its important work fighting food insecurity in our community.

Other participating restaurants include @hanoakpdx @lechellepdx @broderpdx @okchickenandkhaosoi @sunricepdx @cafeolli @heavenlycreatures @norahpdx @mestizo.pdx @officelunch.pdx @theexquisitecreatures @verdurepdx @pinologelato @nostranapdx @sideyardfarmpdx

So, consider this your reminder to eat and drink for a good cause this month. Support Portland’s restaurant community while helping feed our neighbors. It’s truly a win-win. ✨🥃✨

SUMMER SUPPER 2026 💛 Urban Gleaners, an inner Portland nonprofit, recovers and redistributes free food to roughly 8,500 people PER WEEK, saving over a million pounds of food from the landfill every year.

For their annual fundraiser, local chefs are provided one “gleaned” ingredient to build a unique, seasonal dish. Hundreds of attendees show up to sample, donate, connect, and celebrate this incredible organization. It has become my favorite event of the year.

Oh, and goats are the official compost ♻️
