Greenspoint Mall opened in Houston in 1976 as one of the largest and most modern shopping malls in Texas. During the 1970s and 1980s, it was a bustling destination filled with major department stores, restaurants, and thousands of shoppers. As the local economy changed and newer malls opened, business declined, and the area became known for rising crime, earning the nickname “Gunspoint.” After decades of struggling with vacancies and closures, Greenspoint Mall officially closed in 2024. Today, it stands as one of Houston’s most well-known abandoned landmarks and a reminder of the city’s changing retail history.#urbanphotography #urbanexploration #viral #viralvideos #houston

Log two: Mall at Westlake

•October 19, 2025 8:30am
After staying the night at @urbexshark2 ‘s college dorm, @expiredbodylotion, myself and Shark drove to the 2nd location for this trip, a little known, defunct mall that had long been closed.
•
We showed up just after the Grocery store connected to the mall had been gutted and right before gutting and demolition had begun inside the rest of the concourse, still glad to have made it here in time knowing that just a week after the interior was gone.
