Black and gold looks good on everybody, but especially on those of us who insist on making an entrance. 💛🖤

From the stage to the studio, the concert hall to the sidelines, our Southern Miss artists bring their own kind of magic to Homecoming. A little music, a little drama (the good kind), plenty of creativity, and a whole lot of Golden Eagle pride!

Here’s to the students, colleagues, alumni, and friends who make this place so special. We love the art we make, but we love the people we make it with even more.

Big news: apparently, I’m an artist now.
I wandered over from George Hurst to Theatre & Dance to check on my Southern Miss artsy friends.
Turns out, checking on you all involves an endless supply of belly rubs, cuddles, and treats!

I’m pretty sure I got the better end of this study-break deal. Keep making beautiful things, SPVA-I’II be back soon to collect my payment in pets!
XOXO, Sunday WOOF!

Congratulations to Dr. Candice Salyers, associate professor of dance in the School of Performing and Visual Arts, on the international recognition of Orca We Remember.

Salyers collaborated with South Korean artist Jae Chung Kim and composer Jieun Lee to create the dance film, which explores environmental crises affecting our oceans and marine life, including the orca whale.

Orca We Remember was one of only 11 films selected from more than 300 international submissions for screening at the Korea International Ocean Film Festival. The film has also been endorsed by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development program and UNESCO’s Blue Thread initiative for its role in advancing ocean advocacy and ocean literacy.
