A few of the feathered beauties we encountered during our visit to Antelope Island. From the tiny Ruby-crowned Kinglet to the familiar American Robin, each one gave me an opportunity to appreciate the wonderful variety of birdlife on the island.

Four different birds, four little portraits from a beautiful day in nature. ❤️

Townsend’s Solitaire in the alpine.

Beautiful bird of the higher elevations. It’s one of my favorite birds to band as it moves to lower elevation areas to snack on juniper berries during winter. The eye ring is sweet!

So who is picking all the seeds out of this little one’s hair? I will if I can give it a big hug. Mountain goats love hugs too.

The sunlight brought out the most beautiful shades of blue in this male Lazuli Bunting, from deep indigo to flashes of turquoise. Perched among the leaves for just long enough, he gave me a chance to appreciate all those little details that can be so easy to miss from a distance.

For more than two decades, the Roadless Rule has safeguarded millions of acres of backcountry habitat and waters where people hunt, fish, hike, and find solitude. 🦌🎣🥾⛰️

Now, those protections are at risk—and hunters and anglers are speaking up to defend the wild places they love. 🗣️
