🍂 Fall is here, and so is the rut.

As hunting season gets underway, we’re excited to see people enjoying Utah’s outdoors. It’s also an important time to remember to give wildlife plenty of space.

During the rut, elk, deer, moose, and other wildlife can behave differently than they normally do. They may be more active, less aware of people and vehicles, and focused on finding a mate.

Whether you’re hunting, hiking, biking, photographing wildlife, or simply enjoying a fall drive:

🦌 Give wildlife plenty of room
📸 Watch from a safe distance and avoid approaching animals
🚗 Slow down and be especially alert on roads near wildlife
🐾 Keep dogs under control and away from wildlife
🌲 If an animal changes its behavior because of you, you’re probably too close

Fall is an incredible time to experience Utah’s wildlife. Let’s enjoy it while giving animals the space they need to do what they do best—be wild.

For more than two decades, the Roadless Rule has safeguarded millions of acres of backcountry habitat and waters where people hunt, fish, hike, and find solitude. 🦌🎣🥾⛰️

Now, those protections are at risk—and hunters and anglers are speaking up to defend the wild places they love. 🗣️

This amazing group of passionate wildlife protectors met at their annual strategic retreat this last week. I’m so honored to work with hunters, anglers, biologists, educators, and conservationists that show up everyday to invest in helping Utah wildlife thrive!
