It’s steep, too steep to skin, so we take off our split skis and replace them with boot crampons and an ice axe. Oscar Almgren, the founder (and head guide even if he won’t admit it) of Uteguiden, is smiling from ear to ear. He’s in his element deep in the backcountry, far away from the near endless tasks of running one of Norway’s biggest outdoor guiding companies.

As Oscar kicked steps into the hard but somewhat crumbling snow pack, heading for the summit of Grøtdalstindane, he seems carefree. I wish I could say the same but I’m just thinking ‘I really don’t want to fall right now.’

❄️ The magic summer guests never get to experience.
Snow on the mountains, quiet fjords and a calm you can almost hear.

Spend your days outside: a silent electric cruise on the Geirangerfjord, kayak in Brosundet in Ålesund or take your first turns on the slopes in Molde or one of the many ski centers in the Northwest. Or take the Sundbåten ferry between the islands in Kristiansund and try the local fish and chips (fishan).

Then head inside for a hot sauna, a spa experience and a long dinner as the early dusk turns blue.

Any day now… ❄️
The first snowflakes are on their way, and soon @strandafjellet ski resort turns white again.
Fresh powder, great slopes, epic off piste and that view: the fjord far below you as you carve your way down.

We can almost feel it. Time to get ready to play in the snow!

All this new snow in the mountains has me thinking about spring skiing. @_cammcleod_ shot this on our last ski day in Norway last season for a new Return of The Turn. #returnoftheturn

VIKTIG INFO! Vi har hatt problem med inngangsdøren på buldresenteret i dag men no fungerer (nesten) alt igjen. Sjølve automatikken som åpner/stenger døren er midlertidig ute av drift så bare pass på å åpne døra manuelt når du går in.

Frames from my latest work, a week spent kayaking through the fjords.

Thank you @uteguiden for the incredible opportunity, and @kajakkim for guiding me through these waters and sharing the experience with me.

I wanted to create something that went beyond simply capturing beautiful images of the fjords. After the journey, I interviewed my wonderful guide, Kim Van Groningen, about what it feels like to move through this landscape by kayak.

Instead of making the film informational, I wanted to focus on the serene feeling of kayaking through the fjords.

Kim spoke about it so beautifully. Her words brought a poetic and spiritual perspective to the journey and helped shape the film.

Hope you enjoy ❤️
