Up next in our weekly spotlight is starting with our second year fellows! Introducing to you this week Hayley Beene! 👏

Hometown 🏡: Chattanooga, TN

Med school🩺: University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC)

Residency: UTHSC/Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital

Why CCHMC: Cincinnati has everything I was looking for in a fellowship program. The variety and volume of clinical and research experiences is incredible. Everyone I’ve met here has been so supportive and fun and made me feel right at home. It’s a great environment to become a pediatric pulmonologist!

Clinical interests: bronchoscopy, rare lung disease, asthma, sleep

Hobbies: watching football and hockey (Vols, Ravens, Titans, Preds), cooking, gardening, reading

If I was not in medicine: Running a bookstore/bakery. But can it be at the beach? And then for my side hustle: a pet photographer

Also, stay tuned next week for our AABIP’26 highlights !

Medicine is defined not only by clinical excellence, but by compassion, humility, and service to others.

This morning, we were honored to recognize the nominees and recipient of the Alper Humanitarian Award 🎖️— individuals who lead with empathy and embody the values at the heart of patient care.

Congratulations to each nominee and this year’s winner, pediatrics resident Dr. Faith Blackmon, for the meaningful impact you make on our patients, colleagues, and community every day.

Still not over this moment 🥹✨

Match Day was everything I dreamed of and more. All the long nights, early mornings, and sacrifices led to this exact moment.

Now here I am—a pediatric resident, almost PGY-2, doing what I love every single day 🩵

And yes… you can call me doctor 👩🏻‍⚕️✨

Outpatient rotation phase unlocked. After living on inpatient time for what felt like forever, suddenly I’m seeing daylight, eating real meals, and remembering I have a life outside the hospital. Same pediatric resident, better energy, happier vibes, and enjoying the work again 🩺✨
