Introducing Dr. Lara Abu Rumman!
Hometown: Al-Salt, Jordan
Medical school: University of Jordan School of Medicine
Career interest: still undecided, currently interested in endocrinology, genetics, and heme/onc
Why I chose LeBonheur: LeBonheur felt like a place where I could fit in even when I was far from home, it truly felt like home. “LeBonheur” means “happiness” and I genuinely found so much happiness here. I love caring for patients from all different backgrounds and getting to see all the “zebras” I once thought only existed in textbooks!
Bucket list item: visit all 50 states and collect a fridge magnet from each one with my husband! by @uthscpediatrics

Introducing Dr. Cat Trieu!
Hometown: Memphis, TN
Medical school: LMU-DCOM
Career interest: Neonatology or hospitalist medicine
Why LeBonheur: I chose LeBonheur because I wanted to get well-rounded training. Getting to work with pretty much every speciality and having a new CVICU and level 4 NICU, you get to see a variety of pathologies and be a part of very special care. You also get very thorough outpatient training, with a program emphasis on patient advocacy and literacy, as well quality resident education.

Another month in the books, and another round of resident/fellow/attending of the month is here!! August was a long month and we had two outstanding interns, an excellent first-year NICU fellow, and a beloved general pediatrician who deserve some recognition!! by @uthscpediatrics

Next up: meet Dr. Emily Tran!
Hometown: Mattoon, IL/Dothan, AL/Birmingham,AL
Med school: The University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine
Career interest: I am open to most areas, but likely leaning toward the outpatient setting! Nothing set in stone though!
Why LeBonheur: After visiting the program in-person during my second look, I could immediately tell that there was a strong connection between faculty and trainees, as well as among the trainees themselves. I knew that I would be forming genuine connections with those around me while receiving excellent training at the same time. Shoutout to my July night team who made transitioning into intern year so great 🫶🏼
Fav Memphis restaurant: While I still have so much of Memphis to explore, my current favorite spot would have to be “Juiced What You Needed”. I love their fresh pressed juices and the food menu has unique and very flavorful options! taken in UT Health Sciences by @uthscpediatrics

Hometown: Anand, India
Medical school: Bicol Christian College of Medicine
Career interest: Gen peds or endocrinology
Why I chose LeBonheur: it’s a stand alone children’s hospital with a large multi-state reach. It’s diverse patients and great learning, as well as amazing leadership and warm Memphis weather to top it off!
Hobbies: Watercolor painting/sketching, hiking, strolling through cities

Kicking off our Welcome Wednesday series with Meet the Chiefs! We are so excited for the recruitment season to kick off. Stay tuned each week to meet some of the newest members of our UTHSC Pediatrics family!🧡💚

First up: Dr. Johni Armstrong
Johni is a West Tennessee native and has come to adopt Memphis as her home after attending medical school here. When she’s not at work, you can find her baking, sewing, reading, sweating at Pilates, or doing a DIY project! 🧁🧵📚🔨

Next up: Dr. Britt Bolin
Britt is also native to Tennessee and returned after for medical school. She has loved her time in Memphis and the community she has here. When she’s not at work, she enjoys working out, reading, cooking, traveling, and seeing shows/concerts! 🚴🏻‍♀️🍝🎫🎭

Last, but not least: Dr. Kitty Foos
Kitty hails from the great state of New Mexico, but was excited to venture east for residency. She loves UTHSC Pediatrics and Memphis, but is an unofficial tourism ambassador for New Mexico. When she’s not at work, she loves to bake with her sourdough starter Doughlene, work up a sweat at CrossFit or on her Peloton, yap over drinks, and build puzzles! 🥖🏋🏻‍♀️🧩🥃 by @uthscpediatrics
